Dr Florence Ajimobi Mourns Sheikh Muhyideen Bello

Wife of the former Governor of Oyo State, Chief (Dr.) Florence Ajimobi has expressed deep sadness over the death of one of the country’s foremost Islamic clerics and a friend of the Ajimobi family, Sheikh Muideen Bello.

Sheikh Muhyideen Bello died on Friday in Ibadan. In a condolence message to Muslims in Ibadan, Oyo State, and Nigeria on Friday, the President, Senator Abiola Ajimobi Foundation, Dr. Ajimobi, described the late Islamic cleric, popularly referred to as Oniwaasu Agbaye, as one of the dearest and closest spiritual leaders to her late husband, Senator Abiola Ajimobi. 

The condolence message reads:
“With a heavy heart, I mourn the passage of a spiritual mentor, a respected cleric, and a pillar of our community, Sheikh Muhyideen Bello. My late husband, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, and I had the privilege of calling Sheikh Bello a close friend and confidant.
“Sheikh Bello was more than just a friend to my husband; he was a father, a mentor, and a guiding light. His wisdom, compassion, and unwavering commitment to his faith inspired countless individuals in Oyo State, Nigeria, and beyond the shores of our country, including my late husband and I.

“I remember the numerous times Sheikh Bello would visit our home, sharing words of wisdom and offering guidance on matters of faith and governance. His counsel was always sought, and his presence was a blessing.

“Sheikh Bello’s passing leaves a void in our lives and the lives of countless Ummah in our country. However, we take comfort in the knowledge that his legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched. His contributions to the development of Islam in Oyo State and Nigeria. His tireless efforts to promote peace and understanding will never be forgotten.
“As a cleric, Sheikh Bello was a shining example of compassion, empathy, and kindness. He was a true servant of Allah, and his devotion to his faith was inspiring. His sermons were always filled with wisdom, and his words of encouragement lifted the spirits of all who listened.

“Sheikh Bello’s impact extended far beyond the Muslim community. He was a bridge-builder, a unifying force who worked tirelessly to promote interfaith understanding and cooperation. His commitment to peace and reconciliation inspired countless individuals, and his legacy will continue to inspire future generations.

“As I reflect on the life and legacy of Sheikh Muideen Bello, I am reminded of the importance of living a life of purpose, compassion, and service. Sheikh Bello’s life was a testament to the power of faith, the importance of community, and the impact one person can have on the world.
“To the family of Sheikh Muideen Bello, I offer my sincerest condolences. May Allah grant you the strength and comfort you need during this difficult time. May the soul of Sheikh Bello rest in perfect peace, and may his legacy continue to inspire and guide us all.

“May Allah forgive his shortcomings and grant him Al-Jannah Firdaus,” Dr. Ajimobi submitted.
