From Scholarship to First Class: Meet Fathia Onipede, Abiola Ajimobi Tech-U’s Software Engineering Genius

Our reporter had an interview session with one of the high flyers at the just-concluded convocation ceremony of the prestigious Abiola Ajimobi Technical University. Onipede Fathia Oluwadamilola is a graduate from the department of software engineering. Kindly read.

How are you doing, Miss? Please, can we know you ?

I am doing good. And you? I am Fathia Onipede, a graduate of Software Engineering at Abiola Ajimobi Technical University, Ibadan. I am a data scientist, project writer and academic researcher. Im fine too, as you can see.

Congratulations on the successful completion of your programme at this institution. If you don’t mind, can we know how you gained admission into Abiola Ajimobi Technical University and what informed your choice of course?

I won the Oyo East Local Government full scholarships, which they paid my tuition fee for for four years. I chose software engineering due to the current and future situations of my country and also because the world is revolving around Information and Communication Technology (ICT), which anyone who knows how to operate a computer and can fit into the ICT world will never lack basic amenities of life.

What was your first impression when you gained admission? Did you have it at the back of your mind to finish with the first-class grade from the onset ?

My impression was to make the local government that gave me the scholarship proud and not fail them.

Yes, I made up my mind to finish with first class to make my father proud and to show to myself that I can do it, and with Allah and dedication, I made it.

Alhamdulilai. Can you let us know about your day-to-day activities throughout your stay at the Abiola Ajimobi Technical University which you think might have contributed to your academic success?

I don’t have a particular day-to-day activity, but one thing I know is I know when to play, when to study and when to pray. And also, I chose the right people to walk with.

What were your academic progressions? Did you kick it off at once, or were there stages where it seemed difficult?

Hmmmm, it was not an easy journey, but Alhamdullillah. Right from my first year it was not easy, but I made up my mind to have nothing less than a 4.00 CGPA in my first year, which I did, and since then I put in more effort not to have anything less than a 4.5 in each semester, although it was not easy, but with dedication and prayers, I was able to make it.

In what ways do you think your area of discipline could be applied to the day-to-day human activities to solve problems in the society?

My area of field is applied to our day-to-day activity because we are in the modern age, and most of our activities are done with machines, which is basically under computer science. For example, all the applications we are using are the work of software engineers, computer scientists and so on.

What is your advice to others who intend to finish with the same grade as you ?

Always have an initial plan and work towards it, and most importantly, always be prayerful because without Allah, we can’t achieve anything.

What’s next after convocation, and where do you see yourself in the next two years?

Only Allah knows the next phase, but I wish to start my master’s and be a master’s degree holder in the next two years, Bihidinillah.

Before we conclude this session, what is your total cumulative grade point average?

4.53/5.00

Thanks for your time.

You’re welcome.
