Iyake Festival 2024: Culture Is a Catalyst for Economic Resurgence—Says Barr Agbaje
Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Barrister Akeem Agbaje has emphasised the importance of culture as a catalyst for economic resurgence. He made this known during the 2025 IYAKE festival, Ado Awaye, held today.
In his message to the entire Ado-Awaye community, Barr Akeem Agbaje, who was represented by Alhaji Opeyemi, Hon. Ademola Lawal, and Hon. Dauda Kolawolee, hailed the landmark wonder of nature, which is the Ado Awaye suspended lake. He urged the people of the community to embrace it and make the most of the gift the Almighty has blessed them with.”A gift,” he said, could turn the community into an attractive destination for tourists.
“Today, I join the Alado of Ado-Awaye, Oba Ademola Olugbile Folakanmi, and the good people of Ado-Awaye in the celebration of the 2024 Iyake festival.
“Indeed, Ado-Awaye is a blessed land with a unique presence of nature. There are only two suspended lakes in the whole world; one is in America, and the other one is right here in Ado-Awaye. Indeed, it is a blessing. It is worthy of note that the impact of culture in economic revitalisation cannot be understated.
“As a people, we should embrace the gift of nature and use it to our best advantage to improve the community. I pray Almighty Allah would grant His Royal Majesty, Oba Ademola Olugbile Fòlakanmi, the Alado of Ado Awaye, many more years of happy, healthy, and peaceful reign on the throne of his forebears (Amen), Agbaje submitted.
