May Day: Senator Akintunde Lauds Workers

Senator Yunus Akintunde, the Distinguished Senator representing Oyo Central Senatorial District at the National Assembly, has felicitated Nigerian workers as they celebrate May Day, which over the years has become a global celebration of the dignity of labour among workers all over the world.
In a release made available by Kunle Olatunji, the Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to Senator Akintunde, the lawmaker identified with the resilient approach of Nigerians, especially the working class in the various sectors of the economy, while assuring them that the days ahead hold tremendous hope and, with the benefits of hindsight as critical stakeholders, that the present administration under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is committed to the improved welfare of workers and the citizens in general.
“I sincerely join the leadership of the nation at all levels to appreciate the commitment and resilient approach of Nigerian workers within the global community while celebrating Workers Day. Despite the various challenges and tough global economic situations not peculiar to Nigeria alone, Nigerians, and especially the workers, have demonstrated uncommon steadfastness and support in the midst of government efforts to stabilise the economy.

“I can assure you that this administration under the able leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is sincerely committed to fast-tracking efforts towards repositioning the economy and ensuring sustained improvement in the welfare of workers and the citizens in general.

“The various economic reforms targeted towards repositioning Nigeria in the global economic community are already yielding positive results, and we as a people and nation will begin to feel the positive impact in earnest.
“In particular, I am aware of the several palliative measures and packages in various forms that Nigerian workers are currently enjoying beyond the increase in minimum wage recently introduced, and many of such benefits are already approved for implementation by the present administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“We at the National Assembly are committed to the welfare of the workers and the entire citizenry, especially in the aspect of human capacity development, and we have the confidence that better days are ahead as we together make progressive efforts joining the administration to reposition the Nigerian economy.
“I wish us all a happy Workers Day.”
