My Reflections At 61: A Life of Gratitude and Faith | By Oloye ‘Sina Alabi

In the name of Allah, the most Benevolent and the Merciful.
As I stand here today, April 29, 2025 reflecting on the journey of my life, I am filled with a mix of emotions – gratitude, reminiscence, and wonder. It feels like just yesterday I was a young adult, full of hope and aspiration, with the world at my feet. I had dreams, ambitions, and a sense of invincibility that only youth can bring. Fast forward to today, and I find myself celebrating a milestone – my 61st birthday. It’s hard to believe it’s been six decades and a year since I took my first breath in this world.
“And We have certainly honoured the children of* *Adam.” (Quran 17:70).

This verse resonates deeply with me as I reflect on the gift of life and the countless blessings I have received. As I look back, I am reminded of the giants on whose shoulders I stand. My parents, may their souls rest in peace, were the epitome of love, sacrifice, and guidance. My father, a man of strong principles and integrity, taught me the value of hard work and honesty. My mother, a pillar of strength and compassion, showed me the power of kindness and generosity. I remember the countless times they prayed for me, supported me, and encouraged me to pursue my dreams. Their legacy lives on in me, and I am forever grateful.

To my beautiful wives both home and abroad, who have been my partners, friends, and confidants, I express my deepest gratitude. Your love, support, and sacrifices have not gone unnoticed. You have been my rock, my shelter, and my guiding light. I thank Allah for bringing you into my life.
My children, you are the fruits of my labour, and I am proud of the people you have become. Your successes are my successes, and your struggles are my concerns. I pray that Allah guide you, protect you, and bless you with happiness and fulfillment. I am grateful for the opportunity to be your father and to play a role in shaping your lives. And then, there are my grandchildren – the joys of my life. They bring me happiness, laughter, and a sense of renewal. I thank Allah for the gift of grandparenthood and for allowing me to experience life through their eyes.
I would be remiss if I didn’t acknowledge the spiritual fathers and mothers who have guided me on my journey. Your prayers, wisdom, and guidance have been invaluable. I thank Allah for bringing you into my life and for using you to shape me into the person I am today.
To my friends, who have stood by me through thick and thin, I express my heartfelt gratitude. Your friendship is a treasure, and I cherish the memories we have shared. I pray that Allah strengthen our bonds and bless us with many more years of friendship.
My business partners, I appreciate your trust, support, and collaboration. We have navigated the ups and downs of business together, and I’m grateful for the successes we’ve achieved. I thank Allah for the opportunity to work with you and for the blessings we have achieved.
To the staff of Shortollab Int’l Company Ltd, Ibadan, I express my appreciation for your hard work and dedication. You have been instrumental in the growth and success of our company, and I’m grateful for your commitment.
My political associates, I have worked with you towards common goals, and I appreciate your support and collaboration. I pray that Allah guide us as we work towards building a better society.
To my well-wishers, I thank you for your kind words, prayers, and support. Your gestures have meant a lot to me, and I appreciate your goodwill.
As I celebrate this milestone, I pray for prolonged life, good health, and continued blessings. I pray that Allah grant me the strength to continue making a positive impact in the world, to continue being a source of joy and inspiration to those around me. I pray that He bless me with many more years of love, laughter, and adventure.
In conclusion, I say Alhamdu Lillahi Rabbil ‘Alamin – all praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the worlds. I thank Him for the gift of life, for the blessings I have enjoyed, and for the opportunities I have had. I pray that He continue to guide me, protect me, and bless me with happiness and fulfillment.
Allahumo Ameen.
