PHOTOS: Again, Alaafin Owoade Makes History As Monarch Commissions New Mosque Built By Skimeh In Remembrance of Oba Lamidi Adeyemi

Yesterday, 27th of April, was another epochal day in Oyo Town, as Hon. Akeem Adeyemi, who represents the four local government areas of Oyo at the Green Chamber, hosted all the Islamic organisations in the ancient town at the commissioning of Alfathu-L-Qareeb Muslim Organisation of Nigeria’s mosque. The mosque was built by Hon. Akeem Adeyemi to commemorate three (3) years after the passing of His Imperial Majesty, Late Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi (III).

Apart from being attended in grand style and commissioned in person by His Imperial Majesty, Oba Akeem Abimbola Owoade, the Alaafin of Oyo, the event had in attendance Obas, chiefs, religious groups, politicians of note, business moguls, and religious clerics from far and near.
Two prominent scholars in the person of Sheikh Muhyidini Salman Bello – the Grand Chief Imam of Offa – and Sheikh Abubakar Isah Authentic Solatty were on the ground to deliver sermons. They took turns to applaud the visionary commitments of Hon. Akeem Adeyemi for his support of the Islamic community, evident in the construction and commissioning of the Alfathu-L-Qareeb mosque in remembrance of his father, Late Oba Adeyemi (III).

In his sermon, the grand Chief Imam of Offa called on people to adopt the exemplary leadership styles of Hon. Adeyemi for choosing to remember the death of his father not by partaking in inglorious activities, and for choosing to invest in ever lasting act of worship like the construction of an ultra modern mosque. Imam Muhyidini Salman Hussein made it known that “it is well established in the Quran that anyone on whose behalf a mosque is constructed will have a house erected for him in the hereafter”. He therefore called on others to adopt this exemplary act of good deeds, as the reward is never ending.

Usatz Abubakar Authentic Solatty extolled the extraordinary virtues of Hon. Adeyemi. “In all his interactions with Hon. Adeyemi, popularly known as Skimeh, the issue of Oyo and her development has always been on his lips.” He then called on all Oyos to continue to rally round their golden son by offering him all necessary support as he continues to do good to all and sundry,” he stated.
Hon. Adeyemi, who spoke early, made it known that,”The construction of the mosque was demanded by his late father in multiple times he had dreamt about him and that the commissioning is just a way of deliverying the demand of his late father just like every child would love to”. He said “on the day the Alfathu-L-Qareeb presented their three requests before me, I decided to pick the construction of the mosque, even though it was more costlier because I had dreamt about it thrice seeing my father calling on me to build a mosque in his name”. He said, “today’s commissioning is only in fulfilment of what Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi demanded”.
The National Missioner of Alfathu-L-Qareeb Islamic Organisation in the country, Dr. Fadlu Rahman Kehinde Tijani, appreciated Hon. Skimeh for hastening to their request to build the mosque for them and assured him of judicious maintenance of the facilities.
The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade, used the occasion to call on people to emulate the excellent strides of Hon. Adeyemi. He also urged unity of purpose across the nooks and crannies of Oyo.
The event had in attendance the Mufassir and Acting Chief Imam of Oyo, Alh. Abdullateef Abdulazeez Eleyele; Sheikh Dhikrullahi Yahyah; Imam Daud Oladele Tijani Igi Ogun (Khadimul Muslim of Oyo); Alhaji Abdwaheed Muhammad Shittu Larubawa; Chief Imam of Ogbomoso Sheikh Toliat Yunus Ayilara; Asiwaju Tunde Badmus; the Asiwaju Musulumi of Yorubaland, among several others.
Almost all the Islamic organisations in Oyo were in attendance, some of which are Alfathu-L-Qareeb, Ansarudeen, Anwarul-Islam, NASFAT, Ansarul-Huda, NACOMYO, Kosobo Muslim Community, Muslim community of Federal College of Education (Special), Muslim Community of Emmanuel Alayande University and others.
The highlight of the event was the delivery of the panegyric of the Alaafin Atiba, Lamidi Adeyemi (III), and Owoade by the late Alaafin’s wives, led by Ayaba Ramat Adedayo Adeyemi, and the commissioning of the mosque by his Imperial Majesty Oba Owoade. It’s also worthy of note that the ablution space in the mosque was nothing short of being state of the art, as it features 9 standard toilet and bathroom facilities. While the mosque was named ‘Oba Adeyemi III Qareeb Mosque, the jaw-dropping ablution space was named ‘Ayaba Sulat Adeyemi Ablution Centre.
