2023: Dear Compatriots! – Guber Hopeful, Dr Adeduntan Unveils Agenda, Addresses APC Electoral Delegates, Oyo People.

All Progressives Congress, APC Gubernatorial Hopeful, Prince (Dr.) Azeez Popoola Adeduntan has today, Tuesday, May 17 held ‘World Press Conference’ and formal declaration of his intention to contest for the governorship of Oyo state at His DAPAF Centre, Alakia Ibadan.

The globally renown cardiovascular surgeon, Dr Adeduntan’s speech, during declaration event, goes thus,”Dear compatriots and OYO APC electoral delegates.
I wish to say GOOD morning and sincere thanks to all of you for making out time to be here at this remarkable event of my declaration to contest the 2023 governorship election in our dear pace setter State on the platform of our party, the All Progressives Congress.

Oyo State since inception has been blessed with innovators and visionaries. Permit me to recognize, all the past governors from Chief Kolapo Isola to my leader and immediate past governor under whom I served as a commissioner, Late Isiaq Abiola Ajimobi, the man who laid the foundation for the modernization of Oyo State.

The vision, put together by our late leader, Abiola Ajimobi prepared our State ahead of its growing challenges. It remains to this day the most concrete manifestation of his leadership and love for the great people of our State though it’s now been daily destroyed and eroded by the incumbent Governor Seyi Makinde and his team. Hoodlums are now on the prowl in OYO STATE.

I made bold to say that I am happy and feel privileged to be among those that made it realistic and that made it happen.

Let me give you my utmost assurance that if elected as the next governor of Oyo State, I will continue to work towards actualising the roadmap.

I am inspired by the courage and achievements of all the leaders who have charted the path of development for our great state.

I have decided, like the great American President John F. Kennedy, not to continue to wait for what my State can do for me, but to challenge myself on what I can do for my State.

When I look back at my experience in public sector, I realise that God has prepared me for this moment.

I had served Oyo State Government for the first time as honourable commissioner of health.

The All Progressives Congress has been established as a grassroots party of the workers, artisans, middle class professionals and all those who desire the progressive development of Nigeria.

The manifesto of our party promises welfare programmes and building the capacity of our economy, so that we can provide jobs for the youths and make our country stable and secure.

Let me also say that I had not invited you to condemn or malign any of the government either past or present, but to adequately present to you my seven point undiluted, committed and unalloyed seven point agenda to turn around oyo state which are:

SECURITY OF LIFE AND PROPERTY.

HEALTH

EDUCATION

YOUTH UNEMPLOYMENT.

INFRASTRUCTURE

SOCIAL WELFARE FOR THE AGED AND UNEMPLOYED

FARMING

Before this time, I had contributed in no small measure to the progress and development of Oyo State.
To mention but few, it was during my time as honourable commissioner of Health, that we began the much publicised National Health insurance Scheme which has helped in reducing death among pregnant women in the state. Also, equipping, fencing and painting of Adeoyo Hospital and other health care institutions, closure of substandard hospitals and health centres in the state, construction of Oyo State infectious disease centre which was later converted to isolation centre by the current govt.
Endowment funds to repair our dilapidated hospitals and one billion naira worth of equipments were brought to Oyo state hospitals from the USA at no expense to OYO STATE GOVERNMENT.
We have reduced malaria incidence in oyo state to 34%.

• These are the values I am ready to defend.

• These are the values I am determined to propagate.

• These are the values that drive my present desire.

If elected, I shall immediately embark on the full restoration of the glory of Oyo state and make the people the pillar of our government.

I promise the people of Oyo State to restore effective security of life and property, that is daily becoming a cause of serious concerns to residents of Oyo State.

I present myself as a capable, competent and tested hand to make Oyo State greater.
I am fully exposed locally and internationally-a Harvard university trained board certified cardiovascular surgeon, a General surgeon, former professor of surgery at morehouse school of medicine Atlanta, an entrepreneur and a kind hearted philanthropist.
Looking at other competitors, I am the best to wrestle power from GOVERNOR MAKINDE and give OYO state back her pace setter status.

I Prince Dr. Azeez Popoola Adeduntan hereby declare today Tuesday MAY 17th 2022 my candidacy for Oyo State governorship on the platform of APC to the glory of GOD & mankind and promise to run an all inclusive government according to the ideology of the APC and the long-term benefits of the great citizens of Oyo State.

I urge all members of Oyo APC to come out with their membership cards and slips to vote for me at the primaries so that we can continue the journey towards peace, order and development for the good people of our dear State.

History is not made in a day, but it is made on the day that you start to make the labours of the past and the hope for the future the touchstone of our endeavours. That day is today.

I pray that God Almighty shall crown all our efforts with resounding success.
