2023: Oyo APC Chieftainess, Alhaja Tinu Adigun Sets to Organise “Women Interface Prog” on Nov 3.

The office of Oyo state All Progressives Congress(APC) Women leader will on Thursday, November 3rd host Oyo state women in Ibadan during a program tagged: “A Call For Women Participation In Politics, Benefit Highlights, With 2023 Anticipation”.

Alhaja Tinuade Adigun, the Oyo APC women leader who made the statement available to newsmen on Monday said the scheduled Oyo APC Women gathering is aimed at bringing together political Women, Artisans, Women Clubs/Associations, and all the players in the formal and informal business and other sectors for broad engagement on reasons for women to actively participate in politics with benefits highlighting, using 2023 general election as a scope.

“It has been observed that we women still suffer a lot of discrimination, especially, in our participation in politics, and this brings setbacks in the numbers of women in politics.

“Sadly, political parties seem to be satisfied with letting women hold party positions such as ‘Women Leader’, ‘Deputy Women Leader’, ‘Chief Women Organiser’, etc., without really affording them a real opportunity of contributing administratively to the development of their state and country.

“It is high time we called more women into politics and analyzed the major roles and benefits to them. Since political participation is for both gender, men alone should not be the largest beneficiaries of the dividends, we women are also qualified and entitled to share the political gains, irrespective of tribe, age, and education.

“I’m calling all the state women to join us at organized the “Women Engaged” program which is scheduled to hold 3rd of next Month ( November ), at the APC state secretariat, Ibadan. It is where we would analyze the reasons why it is important women shouldn’t leave politics and politicking at the hands of men alone. Women’s participation in politics helps advance gender equality and affects both the range of policy issues but there are many other opportunities and benefits for women’s political participation.
