2023: Yorubas Are Fully With Asiwaju Tinubu – TLF BoT Chair, Ganiyu Akeem Counters Ayo Adebanjo over Afenifere’s “Purported Supports” for Peter Obi
2023: Yorubas Are Fully With Asiwaju Tinubu – TLF BoT Chair, Ganiyu Akeem Counters Ayo Adebanjo over Afenifere’s “Purported Supports” for Peter Obi.
Tinubu Legacy Forum(TLF), a frontline socio-political movement, and Non-Governmental Organization(NGO) registered with Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), mobilizing supports for the presidential agenda of the former Governor of Lagos State and All Progressives Congress(APC) Presidential Candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu,“Jagaban”, has countered Pa Ayo Adebanjo over his claim on Afenifere’s “purported supports” for the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, Mr. Peter Obi, in the 2023 general elections.
This newspaper recalled that the Leader of the Pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, Pa Ayo Adebanjo, said, recently, that the Yoruba body will support the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi, in the 2023 poll.
In a chat with newsmen, the Afenifere leader said the decision to support Obi is based on equity and fairness, adding that it will bring about peace in the country. In his words,“Yes we have endorsed Peter Obi. My reason for supporting him is because based on equity and justice the presidency should go to the South-East. That is what I have been saying. I have not changed my position on that. If you want peace and tranquility in this country; if you want the country to be united, we must do the right thing by ensuring the presidency goes to the South-East. I have no reason to change my stand.”
While tackling Adebanjo, the TLF Board of Trustees’ Chairman, Alhaji Ganiyu Akeem maintained that Afenifere group has greatly deviated from its foundational principles, ideals, goals and aspirations. He said that the group is not speaking for the teeming Yoruba descendants, at home and in diasporas.”Afenifere group, under the watch of Baba Ayo Adebanjo has greatly deviated from its foundational principles, ideals, goals and aspirations, and it has become another thing entirely. So, we reiterate it, the group is not speaking for the teeming Yoruba descendants, at home and in diasporas, who are fully behind Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to become the next Nigeria’s helmsman, and they are assiduously canvasing supports for him, BAT.
“Meanwhile, we understand baba. Baba Adebanjo and other very few Yoruba leaders have never hided their animosity for Asiwaju Tinubu based on ulterior motives and subjective reasons but Asiwaju has never for once reciprocated their indifference with hatred. He has always shown them love and he will continue to do so. That’s is Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for you. He’s the detribalized Nigerian, genuine statesman and magnanimous leader that this moment calls for.
“Allegedly, in the very recent time, Baba Adebanjo has never hidden his cards of racial chauvinism and religious bigotry against some tribes and believers in the country. All these are too reactionary and we appeal to Baba to retrace his steps because it’s very certain that Peter Obi will labour in vain while Asiwaju Bola Tinubu will move progressively to Aso Villa as President in 2023. So shall it be by His Grace.” Alh Akeem submitted.
