The All Progressives Congress, APC, has vowed to recapture Oyo State by flushing out the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, by 2027.

Tagged,”Operation Recapture Oyo State”, the vow was made on Monday at a meeting of APC chieftains from the ten local governments in Oke Ogun, held at Igboho and presided over by Oyo State APC leader and former Deputy Governor, Chief Iyiola Oladokun.

The party leaders lamented that under PDP, Oyo State has lost its pacesetter status.

The APC condemned the total neglect of the hinterlands in Oyo State, especially the ten local governments in Oke Ogun, where major roads are littered with refuse dumps, faeces, unrepaired roads, blocked drainage and the reoccurrence of kidnappings.

The party leaders, therefore, directed its members to intensify grassroots mobilisation and ensured that every eligible citizen obtained the Permanent Voters Card, PVC, to enable them to flush out the PDP.

“We have learnt our lessons and mistakes on why we lost a progressive state to the PDP, and we are now ready to install a people’s oriented progressive government in Oyo State in 2027, the party added. All party leaders and members were enjoined to intensify grassroots mobilisation to vote en masse for APC in 2027.

The meeting also appealed for a power shift in favour of Oke Ogun, especially in selecting the governorship and senatorial candidates for the 2027 general election.

Meanwhile, the Oyo State APC, the Peace Advocate Group, consisting of former Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Dr Akin Onigbinde, an influential APC chieftain, Prince Niran Adeyoju (SDM), Former APC Deputy National Youth Leader, Hon. Afeez Bolaji Repete , former legislators and public office holders, paid a solidarity visit to the Oke Ogun meeting and urged aspirants and their supporters to be peaceful in their political campaigns and mobilisation. The meeting was attended by former Deputy Governors, Chief Adeyemo Alake and Engineer Rauf Olaniyan; former Communication Minister Barrister Bayo Shitu; current and former federal and state legislators; former commissioners, advisers, and party officers; women and youth leaders; federal, state and local government party officials; and party and party elders.

The meeting passed a vote of confidence on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration and reiterated its support for the president’s re-election in 2027.
