2027: Defections, Adelabu’s Growing Support Disprove Makinde’s ‘Capacity’ Claim • Mr Governor is Feeling Insecure, Jittery of Imminent Defeat • Group

Group Says Political Shifts Favouring Adelabu

The Adelabu Mandate Media Group has asserted that Governor Seyi Makinde is increasingly unsettled by significant defections from the PDP to the APC, alongside rising support for Chief Adebayo Adelabu.

Comrade Femi Awogboro, the coordinator of the Adelabu Mandate Media Group, criticised Governor Makinde for “selective amnesia”, particularly regarding the treatment of residents affected by circular road projects in Oyo State. “While many citizens have endured prolonged hardship, Chief Adelabu has stepped in with empathy, providing direct support and facilitating financial assistance to those affected.

“Governor Makinde’s anger should be directed inward,” Awogboro stated. “His administration has left many citizens in sorrow and uncertainty, while Chief Adelabu has exemplified practical leadership by helping residents regain hope.”

While challenging Mr Governor on the “capacity claims”, the group called on Governor Makinde to clarify his definition of “capacity”, suggesting that his comments reflect an insecurity or distortion of fact.

“Capacity encompasses experience, competence, tested leadership, institutional management, and proven results. By all objective standards, Chief Adebayo Adelabu embodies these qualities,” Awogboro asserted.

Awogboro warned that vague accusations lacking measurable criteria only weaken public discourse and reveal political desperation.

On the political landscape ahead of the 2027 elections, Awogboro further noted that Makinde’s remarks stem from increasing political unease as the 2027 elections approach, particularly after notable defections, including Senator Hosea Agboola and Professor Raphael Afoja, who have joined the APC in support of Adelabu’s candidacy. “This shift has fundamentally altered the political landscape in Oyo State,” he said.

“Adelabu’s acceptance across party lines, coupled with the weakening of PDP’s cohesion, has left Governor Makinde politically anxious—this explains his recent outbursts,” Awogboro emphasised.

Awogboro emphasised that the APC in Oyo State is now united, better organised, and strategically positioned, a stark contrast to its fragmented state in previous elections.

While charging the electorate, the Adelabu Mandate Media group urged Governor Makinde to prioritise governance during the remainder of his term, emphasising that the Oyo APC is set to reclaim Agodi Government House in 2027.

Adelabu Mandate Media Group’s Coordinator, Awogboro implored residents to critically assess past promises and records of making, urging the citizens to vote decisively for the APC in the upcoming presidential and gubernatorial elections.
