2027: Osinbajo, Amaechi, Others Abandon Presidential Ambitions to Form Support Forum for Tinubu
Presidential aspirants within the All Progressives Congress (APC), who vied for the 2023 ticket, have joined forces to establish a forum dedicated to rallying support for President Bola Tinubu.
According to a report from Vanguard, notable figures like Chief Rotimi Amaechi and former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo have opted to set aside their personal aspirations for the 2027 elections in a strategic move amid pressing national issues.
Senator Yarima, serving as the convener and acting chairman of the forum, disclosed the news alongside Dr. Nicholas Felix, the youngest presidential aspirant from the APC. The announcement was made in Abuja, and the official inauguration of the forum is scheduled to take place during an end-of-year dinner at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja.
The primary objective of this unified effort is to consolidate support for Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Administration by serving as advisors and advocates for his policies.
Recognizing the socio-economic challenges facing the nation, the group emphasises the importance of fostering unity among religious, ethnic, and political groups to effectively address these issues.
The forum aims to bridge the gap between the government and citizens by disseminating information about policies and initiatives, particularly at the grassroots level.
Their plan involves maintaining direct engagement with President Tinubu through regular meetings, providing a platform for former presidential candidates from the 2023 elections to contribute to national development.
Additionally, they commit to leveraging their global connections to engage and mobilise Nigerians residing abroad to support Tinubu. Their commitment lies in putting aside personal interests and fully endorsing the administration, showcasing a united front.
In a notable display of unity, those who harboured presidential ambitions for 2027 have unanimously agreed to relinquish them, underscoring their dedication to Tinubu’s potential second term.
Their overarching goal is to foster positive connections with presidential candidates across political parties, emphasising a post-election period where collaboration for the nation’s progress takes precedence.
The forum plans to meet with Tinubu on a quarterly basis, aiming for regular discussions and maintaining ongoing feedback through direct communication.
