2027: People are Clamouring for Progressive Governance in Oyo State – Says Hon Monsuru Adeyemo ‘Socrates’

Ibadan, Oyo State
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State and founding member of the progressive party, Honourable Monsuru Akintunde Adeyemo (Socrates), has stated that the progressive fold in the Pace Setter State is on the verge of taking over power from the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.
Adeyemo lamented that PDP has embarked on anti-people governance, engendering different forms of policies that go against the progress of good people of Oyo State and putting people in perpetual agony.

While featuring on a socio-political programme, “Gbagede Oselu”, monitored by this newspaper and which was anchored by Abiodun Abolade Salami on Almond 94.3 FM, Ibadan, on Saturday, December 6, Adeyemo emphasised that Africa’s problems could be traced to colonialism, neo-colonialism, and anti-people leadership on the continent. “Even if the world superpower suspects any kind of benevolent leadership in Africa, such leadership will be subdued. Meanwhile, for Africa to be liberated, our leaders must be determined, and people must also be conscious and hold leaders accountable.

“Insecurity and poor economy have been a major bane to Nigeria’s progress. Meanwhile, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as a freedom fighter, renowned advocate of democratic governance, struggle-tested politician, and seasoned financial expert, is changing the fortune of Nigeria for good, and he will definitely make us proud.
On 2027, Socrates noted that Oyo APC is the most formidable party in the state. “The emergence of PDP in 2019 could be traced to the disunity within the progressive folds which paved the way for coalition and anti-party activities. The anti-party activities repeated themselves in 2023, and this makes PDP remain in power today due to the failure of the party to manage its conflict.
“President Tinubu and other progressive leaders in the state have swung into action to bring back equity and all-inclusiveness to the party. That’s what gave birth to the leadership summit that was held yesterday at the party secretariat, Oke-Ado. Indeed, APC is strategising on winning the presidential and gubernatorial elections in the state and by His Grace, we shall record landslide victory.
Socrates continued, saying the Makinde government made life uneasy for the people living across the state, which he cited the 500-metre circular road corridor as an example, and he maintained that it is a gimmick to take over people’s land and hand it over to their cronies.
Adeyemo used the avenue to solidarise with one of Oyo APC’s chieftains, Amb. Wale Oriade, who was kidnapped recently. “If one of us is missing, all of us must act. I fervently pray for Hon. Wale Oriade’s safe return, and I urge security agencies to redouble their efforts on his rescue.
“Our prayers are with him and his family during this challenging time. May Allah ease our affairs and protect us all. BismiLahi Tawakalna AlaLahi Lahaola Wa Lakuwata Illa Bilai”, Adeyemo prayed.
