Adelabu Remains My Gubernatorial Candidate – Adeseun
Adelabu Remains My Gubernatorial Candidate – Adeseun.
Former Senator of Oyo Central, Ayoade Adeseun, has reiterated that the governorship candidate of Accord Party, Oloye Adebayo Adelabu remains his anointed candidate.
He noted that the speculation that he has pitched tent with the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate, Oloye Teslim Folarin is a mundane and empty propaganda tailored to deceive the people in the streets.
The development sparked reactions in Oyo political circles after the pictures of the courtesy visit went viral in the state.
Adeseun stated this on Saturday after the courtesy visit of the National Secretary of All Progressives Congress; Senator Iyiola Omisore, Oyo APC gubernatorial candidate; Teslim Folarin, Hon. Segun Odebunmi, Olamiju Alao-Akala and other APC chieftains.
“Following the visit, it has become more imperative that we inform the public and our teeming supporters about the true situation of things regarding the courtesy visit. It is equally important we make it abundantly clear that Adebayo Adelabu remains my gubernatorial candidate. This is contrary to the fake news being spread by mischief makers and hired foot-soldiers of falsehood and deceit.
“The essence of this reaction is to clear air on the rumour going viral that I anointed the APC gubernatorial candidate, Teslim Folarin, because of his courtesy visit and some other APC chieftains. They came for a burial program and they decided to pay me a courtesy visit as politics is not a do or die affair which I want the people to emulate.
“Those that are spreading the news are only hallucinating. Adelabu is in the race, he has my full support and we are hoping for victory.
“I believe in Adelabu’s track records, his commitment, his energy, his ability to get things done, his age and his ability to reach a consensus over the years, these stand him out in good stead. As my candidate, he was the former Central Bank of Nigeria’s Deputy Governor, he was one of those that designed security architecture during Ajimobi’s regime. So, as governor, I know the trend will continue,” he said.
Speaking in an interview weekend, the Mayegun of Ogbomosoland, said that PDP was weak and so, would not win the next governorship ahead of Accord Party, adding that the major opposition party was “also prone to a customised implosion of its own, but nobody should ever be underestimated.”
