Adelabu to inspect Siemens Substations, Vows Unwavering Commitment to Enhance Power Supply in Nigeria.

Chief Adebayo Adelabu, the Honourable Minister of Power, recently convened a crucial meeting with the Siemens Project team under the Presidential Power Initiatives (PPI). The meeting took place at the Minister’s office and had in attendance, Mr. Seun Suleiman, the Managing Director of Siemens Energy, Mr. Sean Manley, the Siemens Energy Project Director, and Mr. Oladayo Orolu, the Siemens Energy West African Head of Business Development.

During this significant gathering, Siemens’ representatives provided an informative update to the Honourable Minister. They covered the project’s current status, its timeline, milestone deliverables, and the various challenges they have encountered. In a collective effort to expedite the project’s completion and bring substantial improvements to Nigeria’s power supply, they sought the Minister’s support. The primary focus of the project lies in enhancing the nation’s power transmission and distribution infrastructure.

In response, Chief Adebayo Adelabu expressed his dedication to the project’s objectives in line with his ministerial mandate. While commending the project’s noble goals, he expressed some reservations regarding the project’s pace and Siemens’ level of involvement. Chief Adelabu emphasized that for a project of such magnitude, Siemens, with its esteemed global reputation, should participate comprehensively in the project’s activities. He cited the example of Siemens’ role in procuring and installing twenty fixed and mobile substations, asserting that their involvement should extend beyond procurement to include installation. This, he believes, will significantly boost power transmission and distribution infrastructures.

He queried,”Siemens has confirmed the arrival and clearance of the substations, but where is the delay in their installation coming from? There’s no doubt that installing these substations will enhance transmission and distribution stability and rehabilitation. I require a deeper understanding of the project’s structure, and I will voice my concerns at the upcoming project Steering Committee meeting.”

Additionally, Chief Adelabu pledged to personally inspect the sites where these substations are assembled. He expressed gratitude to the Siemens contractors for their prompt response to his invitation and affirmed his commitment to providing unwavering support to ensure the project’s success.
