Ajimobi: The Man Who Saw Today !! By Prince Adewale Aponmade.
“Sheuuuuu!!!”
Just like Senator Isiaq Abiola Ajimobi is fondly called by his teeming admirers and political followers, he seems to really be a prophet. In the words of Sheik Muideen Bello “Ajimobi is a special being, and it will take 50 years before we see his kind again”. The Islamic scholar who was a close ally and a spiritual father to Ajimobi must have seen and noticed some things that were out of this world about the ‘Koseleri‘ of Oyo state.
Before his departure to the land of the spirits, he saw the problem that Fulani herdsmen would bring to Oyo state and the entire South Western states. He consulted the Republic of Ireland to help establish modern day ranches in Oyo state. He did that knowing that Ireland is smaller than Oyo state both in land mass and population, yet they are one of the global economic frontrunners. The Republic of Ireland is a highly developed knowledge economy, focused on services in high-tech, life sciences, financial services and agribusiness, including agrifood. Ireland is an open economy (6th on the Index of Economic Freedom) and ranks first for high-value Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) flows. In the global GDP per capita tables, Ireland ranks 4th of 186 in the IMF table and 4th of 187 in the World Bank ranking. Had APC won the 2019 election, ranching would possibly have been one of the major projects that the state will be engaged in, and that would have curbed the activities of herders as well as ensure the safety and security of our farmers. Oyo state would have been the food basket of the whole of West Africa as projected by Ajimobi.
Ajimobi predicted many things that have today come to pass.
He predicted that we will be back to the days of brigandage if Seyi Makinde refused to take a bold step on security. It has come to pass.
He predicted that Seyi will lose the cheap popularity he was enjoying before his two years in office. It has come to pass.
He saw that traffick congestion will soon leave Lagos and visit Ibadan. He advanced the construction of Ibadan Circular Road. Seyi Makinde stopped it.
He saw that Oyo state needs to be heavily industrialized, hence, he put a strong security structure in place because no investor will invest where his investments are not safe. Seyi Makinde ignored it.
Today, the people of Oyo state already know that we’ve lost a prophet and a visionary leader in Ajimobi.
We need another visionary leader from the fold of the progressives to rescue Oyo state from the hands of these neophytes come 2023.
Hopefully, Oyo state will be great again.
