Thereafter, we visited the orphanage house as part of humanitarian programme, a football match between two Private Universities in Ibadan, a special session was held and hosted by the Seventh Chairman of the District, Mr T. A Oyelami, at Kakanfo Conference Center and on May 6, 2022 with Public Lecture and Award.
While delivering his acceptance speech, the 22nd Chairman of Ibadan District of ICAN, Alhaji Ayuba Olayemi Quadri (FCCA, FCA), stated that “With total humility and sense of responsibility, I hereby accept to serve as the chairman of Ibadan District of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria.
We belong today to one of the most stable and disciplined professional bodies in Nigeria and I am proud to be sworn in today as the chairman of the most respected districts within the annals of districts that have made great input to the central body of ICAN. This great district with distinguished twenty-one past chairmen and members of different executives will officially be fifty in August this year, 2022.
When I decided to contest for the office of the first Vice President sometimes ago, I had a deep feeling of rendering selfless service to the district with a view to protecting and improving the professional sanctity of the Ibadan District as well as contribute to the welfare of members and improve their standard of living without compromising the discipline and conduct of our esteem profession. I solemnly promise to protect and guide zealously all the ethics of our profession and I have no choice but to hit the ground running because we have so much to do but with little time to translate all our visions into actions.
Delivering further, he maintained that,”Let me roll out the highlights of my programmes and visions for the district as below;
No single tree can make a forest, I shall be setting up the following committee with moderate terms of reference in a matter of day and our respectful members will be required to serve and put their best in service to the following committees;
The most constant object in the world is change because change comes with a lot of challenges but telling the truth to ourselves, we need to change and reform some of the ways we execute our programmes at the district in order to attract wide membership as well as revive the passion and the interest of our veteran members who have kept a silent distance with the district because our programmes do not accommodate them. It is also a common knowledge that our practising members rarely refresh their skills or attend prerequisite trainings required to progress the ladder of professional promotion supply because of the cost and the relegation of the importance of such trainings. It is my wish to invite the best in the industry for a quarterly seminar at affordable costs with maximum standards that can keep members of the district in tune with the best practice in the world.
I am not unaware that some of our members are not engaged professionally or in paid jobs and it will be my priority to open windows of opportunity for such members as well as promoting a central pool of funds that will attract contributors widely across the globe for the sustenance of members who may have health and related challenges.
I am proud of the team that will work with me and who will not feel blessed with men and women in the industry who have made their marks and are willing to offer selfless services laced with passion in order to move the district to an enviable position within its peer across the length and breadth of the country. We shall work as a team, like a team and a united team with an eye for passion of success and we shall leverage on our strengths and accommodate our weaknesses in order to formulate a template of performance standards that will sustain the district for a long time to come.
Let me thank the members of the last executives where I was privileged to serve as the first Vice Chairman, all the veterans and the captains of the industry who have made inputs that have projected the district in positive lights and I shall keep the legacies that are positive for the development of the district”, he submitted.
In attendance were Prince Fatai Bade Oyedepo (Former Chairman), Alhaji Ogunlade Dimeji (Former Chairman), Alhaji Ogunsesan (Former Chairman), Pa Oyedele, Pa Ayo Lawal, ICAN Council Members (Past and Present) and many other esteemed members of the ‘District Society’.
