APC Considers South-West for Deputy Speaker • Group Throws Weight Behind Prince Olaide Akinremi As Next DS.
The leadership of APC was said to be considering the South-west for the position of Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives. But meetings and consultations continued, Opera News quoted THISDAY.
A source privy to the meeting informed THISDAY that the South-south would produce the next Senate President, while the position of Deputy Senate President would go to the North-west.
The source, who added that the position of Speaker of the House of Representatives would be zoned to the North-West, said the North-central was being considered for Secretary to the Government of the Federation.Asked if the stakeholders had agreed to the zoning formula, he said discussion was still on-going and the meeting continued last night.The source said, “It is confirmed that the South-south will produce the Senate President and the North-west will produce the Deputy Senate President. North-west will also produce Speaker and the South-west will produce Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives. But discussion is on-going, and it will be made public soon.”
Meanwhile, in the spirit of solidarity, the Oyo State Coordinator of Think Nigeria Solidarity Movement(TNSM), Honourable Afeez Bello maintained that Prince Olaide Akinremi Jagaban of Ibadan North Federal Constituency is the best man for the position of Deputy Speaker in the next House of Representatives, and he revealed that his organisation’s state chapters across the country have unanimously resolved to mobilise supports for the federal lawmaker.
Bello hailed Akinremi as a seasoned lawmaker, capacious helmsman and charismatic leader of all times that has all it takes to occupy the position of deputy speaker of the legislative sovereignty of the green chamber.”The emergence of Hon Prince Musiliu Olaide Akinremi in Ibadan North Federal Constituency in 2019 has ultimately changed political dimension and exposed politicians and the masses to socio-political developments and new ideas that helped the constituents to enjoy dividends of democracy which they have never witnessed. This was as a result of creating something new not only in his constituency and Senatorial District, but also in the whole of Oyo State.
“His style of representation attracts large followership across the six geopolitical zones in the State that no federal lawmaker in the Green Chamber ever have.
“Besides, his dedication and commitment to the progress and development of his party earned him a fruitful position as one of the member of CECPC that stabilized the party across the country; conducted a fruitful National Convention that produced the current National Working Committee, who, assiduously, worked for the emergence of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the Party’s Candidate, and the President-elect of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. These great achievements cannot be undermined.
“Meanwhile, he is the kind of person that we need in house leadership. The Tinubu led government will need someone like Prince Akinremi Jagaban because of his charisma, diligence and intelligence, in order to ensure a friendly and fruitful relationship between the executive and the legislature. As the consideration is at the top gear by APC National leadership to zone the position of Deputy Speaker to the Southwest; the industrious lawmaker, Prince Akinremi will use this office to foster peace and promote unity, and enhance effective legislation that all Nigerians deserve. He stated.
