APC: Kyari Takes over As Acting Nat’l Chairman.
Following the purported resignation of Senator Abdullahi Adamu as the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Party(APC), Sen. Abubakar Kyari, who is the Deputy National Chairman (North), has taken over the affairs of the party as the acting National Chairman, newspeakonline.com reported.
Adamu had reportedly stepped down from his position on Sunday.
His resignation letter was said to have been submitted to Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State, who is the Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum. Uzodinma subsequently handed over the resignation letter to the Chief of Staff to the President, Rt. Hon Femi Gbajabiamila, who was at the time in Nairobi, Kenya.
Kyari accompanied by seven members of the National Working Committee (NWC) held a meeting in his office, on Monday.
Upon arriving at the APC national secretariat, Kyari reporteldy parked his official vehicle at the spot designated for the National Chairman.
At the meeting were Deputy National Chairman (South) Emma Enukwu; National Vice Chairmen (North West), Salihu Lukman; National Vice Chairman (North East), Salihu Mustapha; National Vice Chairman (North Central), Muazu Bawa; National Vice Chairman (South West) Isaac Kekemeke; National Vice Chairman (South East), Ejoroma Arodiogu and Deputy National Secretary, Barr. Festus Fuanter.
Meanwhile, the National Secretary of the party, Sen Iyiola Omisore, who is also expected to tender his resignation letter was barred from the NWC meeting.
According to WesternPost, Omisore arrived at the secretariat around 11:20am to attend the NWC meeting, but was allegedly prevented from joining.
Prior to his arrival, his parking space had already been taken over by his deputy, Fuanter.
Omisore subsequently left the secretariat, stating his intention to meet with Adamu to inquire about his absence from office.
