APC National : Ajimobi Is Legitimate Acting Chairman – Open Salawu
Former aspirant for Ogbomoso North/Ogbomoso South/Oriire federal constituency seat in the 2019 general election and stalwart of All Progressives Congress, Engr. Mufutau Open Salawu has declared his supports for the appointment of former governor Abiola Ajimobi as acting National Chairman of the party.
Hon. Open Salawu who was Special Adviser on Works and Transport to Ajimobi emphasized that Ajimobi’s appointment was backed by the party’s constitution.
His statement read, ”
Ajimobi is the acting National Chairman of APC. He was appointed as the Deputy Chairman South on the 17th of March, 2020. According to the Section 14 subsection 3 of the APC constitution which states that, “The Deputy National Chairman shall act as the National Chairman in the absence of the National Chairman from his zone”.
National Working Committee(NWC) wrote a letter to the South-West to nominate a candidate for the vacant position of the Deputy National Chairman (South) after the position became vacant with the appointment of Otunba Niyi Adebayo as a minister and 5 states from southwest nominated His Excellency Senator Abiola Ajimobi and since March 2020 he has been functioning as Deputy Chairman-South of All Progressives Congress .
And those that are claiming that he was not elected should recall that when President Jonathan assumed the position of President of Federal Republic of Nigeria after the demise of President Yaradua, the then Governor of Kaduna state in person of Arc Namadi Sambo was nominated and appointed as Vice president.
Victor Gaidom should please let peace reign and allow the party to remain focus at this moment that we have two state gubernatorial elections before us.
We are very confident Adams Oshiomhole will come back since people that purportedly suspended him have left the party and the remaining executives of his ward are willing to call him back.
“Pending the time that the step is taken, His Excellency Senator Abiola Ajimobi is the Acting National Chairman of APC and it has been confirmed by the action of NWC yesterday. Mind you the court only suspended Adams Oshiomhole as an individual not the NWC of the party”, Open Salawu reiterated .
