APC:”Oyo State Progressive Parliamentarians” Makes Move to Avoid Parallel Congresses, Meet Fatai Ibikunle, Others.

Oyo State Progressive Parliamentarians, the umbrella body for all progressive honourables from 1999 till date, has on Wednesday paid courtesy visit on Alhaji Fatai Ibikunle, a front line leader of the All Progressives Congress(APC), in the state, as part of their continual efforts to avoid parallel congresses and unite the party ahead of the forthcoming October 16 state congress.

This is contained in a press release, issued after the Forum’s representatives from the three senatorial districts and seven zones of the state paid visit to the Party’s Chieftain, Ibikunle on behalf of the forum.

The release is respectively signed by the Chairman and Secretary of the Forum, Hon. Bolomope Ibrahim and Hon. Alli Akinola Sikiru, and also, made available to the newsmen by the Public Relations Officer(PRO), Hon. John Olaleru yesterday in Ibadan.

Africano Trumpeters Newspaper recalled that the progressive lawmakers have earlier paid similar visit to former Governor of Oyo-State, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala at his Awosika Residence, on Tuesday, in Ibadan.

“Your Honour, sir, Alhaji Fatai Ibikunle! We’re here today on courtesy visit to commend your leadership roles geared towards rebuilding formidable APC in Oyo-State. Meanwhile, sir, it’s not over until it’s over. We’re on mission to charge you more, to actively, work with other leaders to avoid parallel congresses, on Saturday, and to strongly build a united progressive party in the state. We’ve earlier met Governor Akala yesterday and there are still other leaders that we will meet between tomorrow and Friday.

While responding, Ibikunle revealed his personal efforts that he has been making to resolve differences among party faithful and to ensure harmony.”Personally and collectively, I’ve been making frantic efforts to ensure a united Oyo APC and I will continue to do so in order to build harmonious and victorious party come 2023″,he said.

“And I’m using this medium to appeal to the party’s bigwigs, to put the interests of the party first, before any personal ambition. We must shun the attitudes of winners take all. For me, I’ve no gubernatorial aspirant I’m supporting presently. What I’m currently passionate with is building a formidable party. When we’re able to build a strong party, then ambition follows. Also, may I progressively encourage all the party faithful to put party’s interests first beyond ambition. Let’s build a strong and united party together, so as, to come out victoriously come 2023.

“On zoning arrangements, humbly, I appeal to the party leadership, to allow party faithful in their respective zones to democratically decide on who they want to send as their representative(s) in the state executive council. This will not only foster peace but it will also strengthen the party”, Ibikunle said.
