As 2027 Beckons: Power Minister, Oloye Adebayo Adelabu, Poised to Lead APC Back to Govt in Oyo State | By Zakariyah Jelili

As the political atmosphere gradually gains momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections, all eyes are turning toward Oloye Adebayo Adelabu — the Honourable Minister of Power and one of Oyo State’s most visionary sons. With his sterling performance in the banking sector, humility in leadership, and pragmatic approach to governance, Adelabu has proven himself as a man driven not by personal ambition, but by an unshakeable commitment to the growth and development of his people.
Under the dynamic leadership of Oloye Adebayo Adelabu, the Honourable Minister of Power, the nation’s energy sector has experienced an unprecedented transformation. His forward-thinking approach and reform-driven leadership have redefined how electricity is generated, distributed, and managed across Nigeria.
One of his landmark achievements is the legislative reform that set in motion the decentralisation of the Nigerian electricity market, granting states the authority to regulate, generate, transmit, and distribute power. This policy shift has enhanced productivity, fostered healthy competition, and ensured that governance in the power sector is closer to the people.

The Ministry’s strategic reforms have significantly strengthened national revenue, raising it by over N700 billion Naira, a remarkable 70% increase between 2023 and 2024. Notably, state governments are the major beneficiaries of this growth, and citizens must hold them accountable for how these resources are utilised to improve lives and infrastructure.

Under Adelabu’s leadership, the Ministry of Power has also expanded both power generation capacity and renewable energy adoption. Electricity generation has increased from 6,003 MW, the previous national peak, to 5,801.84 MW, reflecting an impressive 40% growth within two years—a testament to his strategic foresight and commitment to results.
Furthermore, to ensure electricity access extends to every corner of the country, the Ministry has deployed off-grid and mini-grid solutions across various states, delivering clean and sustainable power to rural communities.
Despite these groundbreaking achievements, mudslingers and disoriented critics deliberately ignore the undeniable progress recorded under his watch. Their envy and misinformation only reveal their fear of excellence. The good people of Oyo State must therefore remain vigilant and not be swayed by those seeking to discredit Oloye Adebayo Adelabu—a visionary leader whose record of service and reform speaks louder than propaganda.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, once the dominant political force, is steadily regaining strength—and many believe that Adelabu’s inclusive and unifying leadership style is the master key. He has been able to bridge divides, reconcile differences, and rekindle the spirit of progressive politics that once characterised the party’s golden era in the state.
Indeed, history beckons — and Adelabu is ready to answer the call.
