ASUU Strike: NANS President, “BARAMBU”, Other Excos Hail Appeal Court Decision, Congratulate Students over Resumption(PHOTOS).

In order to find final and amicable resolution to the lingering strike action embarked on by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), the newly elected “Visionary” President of the largest student body in Africa – National Association of Nigerian Students(NANS), Comrade Usman Umar Barambu, GCNS has today, led his other executive members of the Union to attend the Court of Appeal Hearing filed by ASUU at the Court challenging the ruling of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria that directed ASUU to resume back to class. The union leaders hailed appeal court decision and congratulated Nigerian students over resumption.

This is revealed by a release made available to the newsmen by the Secretary General of the association, Comrade Usman Baba Kankia, today, in Abuja.

The document reads,”The Revolutionary President of NANS Comr. Umar Usman Barambu Gcns alongside other Executive members of the Union attended the Court of Appeal Hearing filed by ASUU at the Court challenging the ruling of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria that directed ASUU to resume back to class.

“The Court of Appeal has today ruled that ASUU should first comply with the ruling of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria and resume classes within the next 24hrs, the Court further ruled that it will only continue to entertain the ASUU appeal when the first comply with the ruling of the NICN.

“The position of NANS is that, Nigerian students whom have been at the receiving end of the negative consequences of the strike should be made to suffer no more, ASUU should in respect to the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and accept this ruling in good faith while working to explore alternative ways that will make the Government fulfill it’s part of the ASUU/FG agreement, NANS will remain resolute in ensuring that all those agreements are fulfilled to the latter.
