Ayo Fasanmi : Yoruba Youths Mourn Afenifere Leader’s Demise .
The Supreme Forum of Yoruba Youths (SFYY) has commiserated with the family, friends, progressive tendency and the entire people of Ondo and Ekiti States over the passage of a second republic Senator, Pa Ayo Fasanmi who died on Wednesday’s night at the age of 94.
SFYY in a statement issued by its Director of Media and Strategy, Daniel Abe described the death of the elderstateman as “end of an era”.
Pa Ayo Fasanmi represented the people of Ondo North Senatorial district during the second republic. Before then, he was a governorship Aspirant under the platform of the defunct Unity Party of Nigeria during 1979 general elections.
“Pa Fasanmi was a political Ally of the late Sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo. As a youngman, he fought relentlessly for the independence of Nigeria and later in life for its development “.
” Pa Fasanmi lived a legendary life. His foray into politics and his political journey till his death taught us a lot of things particularly the need to be consistent and honest. Like his leader Obafemi Awolowo, Senator Fasanmi was a great man of honour, principle, knowledg and commitment to the welfare of the people.
He used politics as a vehicle to serve the people which he did diligently “.
” He was instrumental to the creation of Ilejemeje Local Government and also joined other prominent indegenes of Ekiti to fight for the creation of the state “, SFYY reiterated .
” Senator Fasanmi will forever be remembered and we pray for the repose of his soul”, The youths group stated .
