When I heard of the Senator Abdul Fatai Buhari facilitated training program for youths and women empowerments that took place recently in Ighoho, Orelope Local Government of Oyo State, it vividly brings to mind the biblical parable of the talents and how each of the contestants will be rewarded according to their abilities.
Without a modicum of doubt, the good people of Ogbomosho and Oke Ogun in Oyo North Senatorial districts should count their blessings and thank God for having a Senator like Senator Abdulfatai Omotayo Buhari who has always been saving flurry of words to speak with actions.
Empowering Women and Youths is a panacea for poverty reduction and a spur for accelerated economic growth. Its indeed a worthy investment in social services.
This was once buttressed by Professor Babatunde Osotimehin of UNFPA in a radio interview when he was advocating for Youths and Women empowerment. According to him “The virtuous cycle helps the communities and nations to escape poverty.”
Interestingly,the Senator BAF facilitated training did not just end in expanding the horizons of the beneficiaries, it strengthens them to make a veritable choices about their lives via the empowerment that came pari pasu with the training.
The most effective way to do it, they say, is to do it in an efficient method, this precisely is what Senator Buhari is doing and busy working earnestly to put smiles on people’s faces while others looking for ” cheap votes “are enraptured with the campaign for 2023 elections.
Its a known fact that the Youths population keeps extending daily without a concomitant directive for a better future. Senator BAF through the training has largely broken the cycle of Youths unemployment and make them self reliant, thus preparing them to meet up with the sustainable Development Goals, ditto for women who are the mothers of the Nation.
Like in the parable of the talent, one thing we should all put at the back of our minds is to reward the candidates according to their deeds. And the only means to that ends is to vote BAF back as a Senator in Oyo North Senatorial District in 2023.
