Oyo State Commissioner of Police Mr shina Olukolu has been charged by Hon.Aremu Olaide (ERE) of
Ibadan North East Local
Government to double his efforts in discharging his constitutional duties and official roles of enforcing law and protecting lives and properties .
In a Press statement issued in Ibadan and made available to the newsmen Ere says, “The show of shame displayed across 33 Local Governments and 35 LCDA’s in Oyo State which is being hugely perpetrated by street boys widely referred to as “THUGS” is highly barbaric, shameful and unfortunate as well as inimical for the development of our nascent Democracy.
He maintains that, “democracy thrives where mutual understanding governs the conducts of Executives with other tiers and arms of government. The present Executives in Oyo state need to display charismatic mode of leadership by accepting the existing reality of lawful and peaceful resumptions of democratically elected local government officials on Monday 27th January, 2020 after the legal opinion of AGF, Abubakar Malami and directives of Inspector General of Police should be seen as the end of ‘Executive Rascality’ in which Governors illegally displace democratically elected local government chairmen in Nigeria, Oyo State inclusive.
Olaide uses the avenue to charge the Commissioner of Police to display more commitments in dealing with enemies of peace that are parading here and there threatening and disrupting the peaceful atmospheres of the state.
Hon. Aremu Olaide Ere
laments, “I do not know when the members of a proscribed transportation union in Oyo state becomes an agent of government which gives them reckless audacity to flout dangerous weapons around our peaceful metropolis, a times in front of Police officers without being arrested, so far so good we have not heard of a single arrest of this dreaded people. We can not afford to slide back to the era of brigandage when maiming, killing and political unrest was the order of the day.
” Conclusively, I want to appeal to Governor Seyi Makinde to be careful of political jobbers that may be rendering him mis- leading advice because of their selfish interests, he enjoins Gov. Makinde to prioritize oneness and progress of the state as what we need now is unity in diversity, together we can, Ere concludes.
