Beko Ransome Kuti At 15 : Nation Is Still Not At Peace – Awa Bamiji.

The Secretary of Beko Ransome- Kuti Memorial Committee, Comrade AWA Bamiji has mourned the late freedom fighter and pro- masses thinker, Dr Beko Ransome- Kuti after 15 years of his demise.

“Today, Wednesday, 10 February, 2021, marks the 15th year anniversary of the demise of Dr Beko Ransome-Kuti”, Awa said.

Awa Bamiji hinted that, “His legacies still live on. His favourite quote is; ‘the kind of people we have in power today are very ruthless people who care less about the ordinary citizens. We must struggle to take our right place’.

“15 years after death but we, his class of teeming followers, bulk of which are Nigerian Youths and Students, are not happy at all with the security situation in Nigeria”, Bamiji lamented.

“He and his close Colleagues in the Civil Society Organisations, like Prof Wole Soyinka, Chief Anthony Enahoro; Senator Abraham Adesanya; Chief Bola Ige; Alhaji Balarabe Musa; Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu; Chief Bisi Akande; General Alani Akinrinade (Rtd); Chief Segun Osoba; Comrade Ola Oni; Chief Gani Fawehinmi, SAN; Senator Biyi Durojaiye; Barrister Aka Bashorun, SAN; Barrister Femi Falana, SAN; Rear Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu; Comrade Alfred Ilenre; Baba Omojola, Comrade Ayo Oladokun and several others in conjunction with us, the foot soldiers, fought the military Juntas to standstill for the nation to have its democracy in 1999 but surely, 22 years after, this is not Nigeria of our collective dream”, Awa maintained.

“It is on the note, we are calling on the Federal Government to honour Dr Beko Ransome Kuti and notable others in the Nigerian Civil Society Organisations, that have left this mother earth by stemming the tide of insecurity in the Land”, Awa demanded.

“This is the only way in which it can regain its dwindling image before the Nigerian masses”, he reiterated.

“We, their ardent supporters, will not rest on our Oars until the dreams of these ‘Heroes of Democracy’ are actualised. Aluta Continua! Adieu, the People’s Advocate”, Awa Bamiji paid tribute.
