The Distinguished Senator representing Oyo Central Senatorial District at the Senate in Abuja, Dr. Yunus Abiodun Akintunde hinted that his passion for qualitative education is driven by his background and experience while growing up.

This is contained in a release by Kunle Olatunji, the Special Assistant to Senator Yunus Akintunde during his recent visits to inspect the various projects within the constituency.

“While reflecting on my past years especially growing up as a young boy with the privilege to have attended elementary, secondary and tertiary education academic engagements within quite conducive learning environments, I have always had a burden to contribute towards initiatives that will further improve on education at all levels” .

“Those facilities and infrastructures when compared with what is obtainable in recent times, the fast decline in facilities and infrastructures in our schools, to what we experienced in our days as students, it has become quite imperative that we must all rise to the occasion and correct the anomalies”.

“We all have to appreciate the realities that government alone cannot adequately provide for the society on qualitative education especially on infrastructure such as classrooms and learning facilities”.

“Learning was quite exciting in those days. I can remember my thrilling and exciting learning experiences at Oranmiyan Grammar School where I attended for my secondary education before proceeding to Lagos State University Ojoo Lagos, for my Bachelor’s and Masters Degrees and later capped it with a PhD at the University of Ibadan”.

“Towards the fulfillment of my campaign promises, I have been able to construct new blocks of  classrooms and renovate several others at various locations within the Senatorial district. They include

“That institution is currently the only of such  in Nigeria offering training in that critical aspect of human capacity development for the physically challenged individuals. This will be a watershed landmark legacy in my representative engagement when finally approved”.

“These initiatives will enhance academic performances of our students as they will be able to learn within conducive environments possibly much better than what we experienced in our school days”.

“With nostalgia, I recollect the neat and well structured fascinating architecture of Oranmiyan Grammar School in my younger days and how we looked forward to academic engagements, sporting facilities and programmes”.

“The welcoming atmosphere of ambience at the school environments under the able mentorship of very dedicated school administrators and teachers influenced our learning capacities while the healthy competitive spirit of academic excellence was quite encouraging”.

“My rich experience and unquenchable search for  knowledge combined with sporting skills especially in football and table tennis games were unforgettable memories till date. All of these and above all, the divine grace contributed immensely to my achievements in life and I am extremely grateful to the Almighty God”

“This is why I will continue to support  worthy initiatives targeted towards the advancement of education and human capacity development at any given opportunity”.

Together, I will reach out to several of my contemporaries, eminent personalities, friends and associates within the constituency to join in my efforts at reaching out to motivate the students within the constituency on a synergy with the established authorities”.

“Beyond taking the advantage of information technology to drive our interactive initiative, I will find time to also physically visit some of the schools whenever time permits me towards motivating our students on developing positive mind sets and passion for academic excellence”.

“My commitments on education will always be beyond just building and renovating classrooms, we will also support indigent students and offer scholarships to outstanding students while supporting the federal government initiatives on students loan grants at tertiary levels”.

“I sincerely look forward to witnessing occasions when  these young boys and girls will be celebrated while surpassing our own achievements in academics and careers”.

“No doubt, I strongly believe that these efforts will yield positive results and  enable the manifestation of those desires”.

“As critical stakeholders, it will be a great legacy for us to witness and influence the return of  better days of academic progress and qualitative learning. This is one critical input among many strategies of how we can guaranty and influence national growth and expansion through human capacity development.” He concluded.
