Children’s Day: We’re Building A Great Nation with Commitment to Quality Life for Our Children—Senator Akintunde Hosts, Celebrates Children

At an event organised by the management of Petals FM Radio in Ibadan, Oyo State, to mark the Children’s Day celebration, Senator Yunus Akintunde acknowledged the importance of quality life in all its ramifications as a necessity towards human capacity development, especially for children who depend on adults and society for survival.

Senator Yunus Akintunde, who was represented at the event by his Team of Aides led by Hon. Femi Akintunde, expressed concern and called for an urgent evaluation of every facet of life relevant to the development of the Nigerian child towards lifting the capacity for development such that they will be able to compete favourably in the global space that has become quite dynamic more than ever before.

“I am deeply concerned about the situation with our children in the areas of quality education, health care delivery, food and nutrition, and exposure to information technology towards the capacity development of our children. We must rise to the occasion and do more for these children.

“As we celebrate this year’s Children’s Day, I lend my voice and efforts to support and influence laudable government initiatives on capacity development for our children at all levels.

“At the level of government, we are sincerely committed to improving initiatives related to human capacity development, and the Nigerian child is one of our central focuses. We shall integrate and develop quality synergy with relevant stakeholders to ensure that life becomes enjoyable and not enduring for our children.

“Naturally, children are vulnerable dependants on adults and society, and we cannot afford to disappoint them on expectations.

“For me, I understand and recognise that our commitment to the development of our children is a divine assignment that must be given serious attention and worthwhile commitment at all times if we are truly sincere about making steady progress in the development of our nation now and in the future.

“I remember with nostalgia my years as a growing up child with great experience of visiting notable places, organising debates, quiz competitions, and sporting events days ahead of the May 27th global Children’s Day celebration with march pasts and gymnastics with the leadership of the society in attendance to celebrate us. We must bring back those memorable experiences and improve on them to make life quite interesting for our children.

“I wish all our children in Nigeria and all over the world a happy Children’s Day celebration.
