In a jubilant display of unity and gratitude, the Coalition of Pro-Democracy Groups for A Better Nigeria has marked a momentous occasion, celebrating the milestone birthdays of two esteemed leaders and staunch advocates of progress, Chief Bisi Akande and Chief Iyiola Oladokun.
Chief Bisi Akande, reaching the remarkable age of 85, and Chief Iyiola Oladokun, at 73, are revered as true Afeniferes, core progressives, and Great Awoists. The former Governor of Osun State and ex-Interim National Chairman of the All Progressives’ Congress (APC), Chief Akande, and the legal luminary and former Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Chief Oladokun, have left an indelible mark on the nation’s political landscape.
The Coalition, through its National Coordinator, Comrade Awa Bamiji, expressed deep admiration for the duo’s leadership qualities, describing them as great teachers, quintessential leaders, grassroots mobilizers, bridge builders, seasoned politicians, and mentors of all seasons.
Comrade Bamiji reminisced about his initiation into the Southwest Political Caucus over two decades ago, where the celebrants, along with other prominent figures in Afenifere and the National Democratic Coalition (NADECO), warmly welcomed him.
In a statement, the Coalition conveyed heartfelt birthday wishes to Chief Bisi Akande and Chief Iyiola Oladokun, expressing gratitude for their ceaseless mentorship. The release highlighted the leaders’ unwavering commitment to integrity, making particular mention of their roles in combating tyranny and oppression.
