Condemning the Coup in Gabon: A Call for Pro-People Leadership, African Unity, and Prosperous Africa

Sons and daughters of the soil, courage! The recent coup in Gabon has ignited concerns over the fragile state of democracy in Africa.

I staunchly condemn the military takeover and passionately emphasise the need for African leaders to prioritise their citizens’ interests above all else. Moreover, the oppressive grip of the Bongo family on Gabon over the past half a century warrants condemnation, revealing the dire consequences of unchecked power.

Half of A Century of Despotic Rule from Omar Bongo to Ali Bongo
The Bongo family’s leadership in Gabon has been marred by a lack of vision and accountability. This prolonged era of despotism has led to stagnation, corruption, and the suppression of dissent. Such dynastic governance stifles progress and perpetuates a cycle of political repression.

Championing pro-people leadership

African leaders must heed the call to be pro-people and accountable to their citizens. Democratically elected leaders bear the responsibility of prioritising the welfare of their citizens. The voices and aspirations of the people should shape policies and decision-making processes.

Combating Neocolonialism and Modern Slavery

Neocolonialism, perpetuated by foreign economic interests, remains a significant hindrance to Africa’s development. We must all rise to denounce neocolonial practices and charge African nations to safeguard their resources and interests. Moreover, the prevalence of modern slavery orchestrated by local actors demands resolute action, and all hands must be on deck.

Rising Against Indigenous Enslavement

Indigenous enslavement by local slave drivers is a grave violation of human rights. African leaders must confront this issue head-on and create a society where the dignity and rights of every individual are respected.

Promoting black nationalism and African unity
Black nationalism and the African Universal Brotherhood are pivotal in counteracting historical injustices. African nations must stand united against external forces that seek to exploit the continent’s resources and divide its people.

The Afrocentric Economy: A Path to Prosperity
Advocating for an afrocentric economy entails harnessing Africa’s resources for the collective benefit of its nations. By prioritising local industries and sustainable development, Africa can chart its own path to economic prosperity.

Building Africa by Africa for Africa

Collaboration among African countries is essential for overcoming shared challenges. By leveraging each nation’s strengths and resources, Africa can work towards self-reliance and sustainable development.

The Advantages of a Borderless Africa
A borderless Africa would foster seamless trade, cultural exchange, and collaboration among nations. Breaking down artificial borders is essential for achieving a truly united and integrated continent.

Introducing “AFRO”: The Single Currency for Africa.

The concept of a single currency,”AFRO”, could streamline trade, enhance economic integration, and bolster Africa’s global standing. While challenges exist, this initiative has the potential to drive economic growth and cooperation.

Saluting President Bola Tinubu’s visionary leadership

President Bola Tinubu’s leadership within ECOWAS is commendable. His dedication to regional integration and development sets a positive precedent for African leaders.

The Urgency of the ECO Currency:

Fast-tracking the creation of the “ECO” currency for West Africa is vital for promoting economic stability and cooperation in the region. African leaders must work together to realise this ambitious goal.

Nigeria’s Resilience: A Beacon of Hope

Despite her challenges, Nigeria’s resilience remains unwavering. The Nigerian people’s determination, coupled with President Tinubu’s leadership, inspires hope for a brighter future.

Conclusion: Paving the Way for a Prosperous Africa

The coup in Gabon serves as a stark reminder of the fragile state of democracy in Africa. The Bongo family’s oppressive rule underscores the urgency of accountable governance. African leaders must prioritise their citizens, combat neocolonialism, and eliminate modern slavery. By embracing black nationalism, African unity, and an Afrocentric economy, Africa can overcome challenges and prosper. The vision of a borderless Africa with the AFRO currency holds immense potential. Also, President Bola Tinubu’s leadership and Nigeria’s resilience offer optimism for a better future. It is time for African leaders to unite, prioritise their people, and work towards a prosperous continent.
