Chairman House Committee on information National Orientation Ethics and Values, Honourable Olusegun Odebunmi popularly known as “Bunvic” has received the national leader of the All Progressives Congress(APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who was on a condolence visit to the ancient city of Ogbomosho on the passage of late Soun of Ogbomoso land, Ọba Jimoh Oladunni Oyewumi, Ajagungbade III and former Governor of Oyo state, Otunba Christopher Alao-Akala.
While lamenting, Asiwaju Tinubu described death of the duo as a huge loss to the Yoruba race and Nigeria in general. “The two great illustrious indigenes of Ogbomoso land will be greatly missed”,he maintained
Tinubu also visited the family of Olubadan of Ibadanland, Late Oba Saliu Adetunji and commiserated with Ibadan and Oyo state people, in general, on the passing of the highly revered monarch.
“I’m here today to commiserate with the entire good people of Oyo state on the passing of the two first class kings and my brother, the former governor, Otunba Christopher Alao-Akala.
Earlier in his remarks, Asiwaju Tinubu admonished adherents and party faithful to take heart and be resolute at this trying moment. He recalled his strong relationship with the late Soun of Ogbomoso and the late Olubadan of Ibadan whom he described as strong pillars of support in Yorubaland.
Tinubu mourned and stated that Gov. Akala’s death occurred at a time Oyo state requires his vast experience, leadership acumen and political carriage to chart a new and purposeful direction for the state.
“It is quite painful to me. He was a partner in progress and a political associate whose political values aligned with the plans for growth and development, I have for the Southwest”, he said.
Odebunmi while thanking the national leader for his condolence visit, however assured that Oyo APC will stay resolute and united in her onerous task of returning the party back to power come 2023, in the state.
Among prominent leaders present were Kwara state Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, Chief Akin Oke, Senator Ayo Adeseun, Baba Abu Gbadamosi, Rt.Hon James Faleke, Hon Akeem(Skimeh) Adeyemi, Mr Bimbo Kolade and among other APC chieftains.
