Corona Virus: Fraudsters Device Mechanism to Defraud Nigerians
SCAMS ALERT | FAKE COVID-19 NIGERIAN GOVT N8,500 GRANT FOR CITIZENS!
Dear all,
There is a SCAM spreading on WhatsApp that the Nigerian Govt is giving out grants to all Nigerian Citizens, that if you are 18+ you are entitled to N8,500 per week to stay at Home in a bid to control the spread of COVID-19, starting from Monday 23 March 2020.
THIS IS PURE SCAM!
On clicking on the a shortened (blogspot) link, you are asked to fill in your sensitive info including phone no.s and bank account.
WHY IT’S A SCAM?
• The link shared is a shortened blogspot link, and the Govt will not use a blodspot for anything of such.
• The sensitive info you fill such as Full name, Phone number, Email address and Bank can be used to hack your account. (see attached picture)
Its quite sad that at this trying times, individuals will still SCAM others in the name of Corona virus.
Please let’s be ALERT! and inform our friends and loved ones.
And please STOP spreading information when its not yet verified! They are likely SCAMS! and you will be a enabler of scams.
