Corona Virus: University of Ibadan Muslim Community Suspends Jumuat Prayers

The Governing Board and Executive Council of University of Ibadan Muslim Community, having considered global occurrences around the COVID 19 pandemic, especially, the official revelation that the Ekiti State index case stayed in Ibadan for 14 days, has announced the suspension of weekly Jumuat prayers and any other mosque events that will create a gathering of up to 50 people and to effect this, Jumuat prayers starting from tomorrow, March 20, 2020 has been suspended till further notice as a proactive measure to respond to COVID 19 Virus and prevent its spread.

This is contained in a press release issued by the Chief Imam of University of Ibadan Muslim Community , Prof MO AbdulRahmon, and made available to the newsmen in Ibadan, the press release further reads; ” Members are encouraged to pray in their homes and observe personal hygiene while they continue their Adkhar for Allah to put a halt to this deadly plaque”, furthermore, the community leadership encouraged the members to constantly read Ayatul Kursiyy(Q2:225).
