Credentials Over Claims: Adelabu’s Qualifications Refute Makinde’s Assertions • Capacity Is Factual, Not Subjective – Laniyan Dayo Savengor

RESPONSE TO GOVERNOR SEYI MAKINDE THAT SAYS THE HONOURABLE MINISTER OF POWER CHIEF ADEBAYO ADELABU LACKS CAPACITY.

(A Rebuttal With Facts, Not Fires, Because Truth Needs No Noise)

Your Excellency, Governor Oluseyi Makinde.

With all due respect, and I mean real respect, your recent media chat where you stated the capacity of Hon. Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu left many scratching because you publicly called out his capacity.

Let’s get one thing straight:

Capacity isn’t measured by how loud you talk, but it’s measured by what you’ve built, led, fixed, and delivered. WHO IS CHIEF ADEBAYO ADELABU? Chief Bayo Adelabu is a man whose CV reads like a masterclass in competence;

✅  First Class Accounting Graduate: Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU)

(Not just a degree, a distinction. The kind that doesn’t come by accident.)

✅ Former Deputy Governor, Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN)

(Second-in-command at Nigeria’s monetary authority, a role requiring precision, integrity and macroeconomic mastery. You don’t get that job without proving you can handle pressure, data, and national impact because it deals with capacity.

✅ Managing Director, Major Nigerian Bank

Banking isn’t kindergarten. You don’t run a financial institution without strategic acumen, risk management, and leadership grit. He did capacity work and thrived.

✅ Board Chairman, Security Trust Fund Under Late Sen. Abiola Ajimobi (Here’s where he didn’t just sit at the table; he built the table.) Introduced CCTV surveillance across Oyo State.

Coordinated security reforms that made Oyo safer under late Gov. Abiola Ajimobi.

YOUR STATEMENT ADEBAYO ADELABU LACKS CAPACITY. LET’S BREAK IT DOWN!

You said it publicly as if your opinion alone makes truth. But here’s the question you must answer:

👉 What positions of authority, leadership, or public service had you held before becoming Governor of Oyo State?

Because if we’re talking capacity, we’re talking track record.

•Did you run a bank? NO

•Did you lead a federal agency? NO

•Did you manage a state security initiative? NO

•Did you hold a national office requiring fiscal discipline? NO

You came from the private sector and are respected, yes, but political capacity is forged in public service, governance and tested leadership. And you’re relatively new to that arena.

Capacity: The proven ability to hold office, manage resources, lead teams, make tough calls, deliver results, and serve effectively.

YOUR WORDS, YOUR RESPONSIBILITY

You’re not just a governor; you’re a public figure. When you speak, people listen. When you criticise, you carry weight.

So when you say someone lacks capacity, you better be ready to back it up not with noise but with evidence.

Chief Adelabu’s capacity isn’t up for debate; it’s documented, proven, and respected across sectors.

Yours? Still under construction.

Furthermore, GOVERNOR Before you cast stones at others, look at the foundation you’re standing on. We’re not here to tear down; we’re here to hold leaders accountable.

If you want to be taken seriously, lead with results, not rhetoric. Prove your capacity daily. Stop attacking those whose records outshine yours. Because at the end of the day the people don’t care who shouts loudest; they care who delivers most.

To the People of Oyo State, Don’t let empty words distract you from real performance. Check the records. Ask the questions. Demand the proof.

And to Chief Adebayo Adelabu. Thank you for being the kind of leader Nigeria needs.

Competent. Confident. Capable. Consistent.

You don’t need to defend yourself; your resume does it for you.
