Crisis Brews in Ido As LG Chairman, Sheriff Adeojo Deposes Babaloja of Apete
Crisis may soon engulf the Ido local Government Area following the ‘illegal’ removal of Chief Kehinde Babalakin, Babaloja of Apete, from office by Hon. Sheriff Adeojo, Chairman, Ido Local Government. According to a credible source, Adeojo was alleged to have taken the action to spite Babaloja over the failure of his preferred councilorship aspirant in Ward 4 to emerge as the party candidate. Chief Babalakin Kehinde is one of the leaders of the PDP in Apete and among the leaders that voted in the party primaries.
Our source also noted that,”the development is capable of causing unrest in Apete if not nipped in the bud; it is presently seething and may soon boil over.
The source also affirmed that,”When Hon. Mabaje Rasaq, a House of Assembly member representing Ido local government, contacted, he noted that though he has yet to be fully briefed, the alleged removal is not feasible. Equally, speaking in the same vein, the Babaloja of Oyo State, Alhaji Y. K. Abass, when contacted, described the said removal of the Babaloja as an exercise in futility.
“On his part, the Alapete of Apete, Oba Raimi Bolarinwa, noted that he is not happy with the situation on the ground as he appreciates the peace currently being enjoyed in his domain, noting that the alleged removal of the Babaloja over political-related matters is very unfortunate; ‘the said action of removing and installing can cause chaos in Apete”.
