Defence Ministership: Badaru Denies Claims of Resignation Motives

Former Minister of Defence H.E. Mohammed Badaru Abubakar has publicly rebutted rumours regarding his resignation, characterising them as malicious and unfounded. The claims, which circulated on social media, alleged that Abubakar stepped down due to his inability to “stand and watch the US and Tinubu government bombing our brothers in the forest.”
In a statement released today, Abubakar emphasised that these assertions are entirely false and have no basis in fact. He accused the sources of the misinformation of attempting to malign his reputation and disrupt the relationship between himself and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“The intent behind this fabrication is clear,” Abubakar stated. “It aims to tarnish my hard-earned reputation and create unnecessary distractions from the critical work of governance.”

He clarified that the legitimate reasons for his resignation were communicated to President Tinubu directly and shared with the public via official channels. Abubakar dismissed any alternative motives as a complete fabrication orchestrated by those with mischievous intent.

Reaffirming his loyalty to President Tinubu and commitment to Nigeria’s stability, Abubakar expressed his continued support for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), especially in light of the upcoming 2027 general elections.
Abubakar called on the public to disregard the false claims, reinforcing his dedication to the nation’s peace and progress.
