Deji of Akure lauds Tinubu over Teaching Hospital, Aviation College

The Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for bringing significant federal presence to Akure through the establishment of a Federal Teaching Hospital and a College of Aviation in the Ondo State capital, describing the projects as historic and long-awaited milestones for the ancient city, tribuneonlineng.com reported.
The monarch stated this in Akure, the state capital, during the visit of the management of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) Teaching Hospital, led by its Chief Medical Director, Prof. Olusegun Ojo, to his palace.
Oba Aladelusi said the administration of President Tinubu has brought immense benefits to Akure, noting that residents of the ancient town had clamoured for a federal teaching hospital since the creation of the state in 1976.

According to him, what many state capitals took for granted remained elusive for Akure for decades until the emergence of President Tinubu.

“With the establishment of the FUTA Teaching Hospital, our people will no longer need to travel to Osun, Oyo, or Lagos states to seek quality medical care,” the monarch said.
He also listed the establishment of the College of Aviation and the appointment of a substantive minister from Akure as part of the major gains the town has recorded under the Tinubu administration, noting that such representation had been lacking since Chief Olu Falae served as Minister of Finance and later Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
The Deji stressed that the longevity enjoyed by people in developed countries is largely due to the availability of quality healthcare, expressing gratitude to President Tinubu and Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, for ceding the Akure Specialist Hospital to the Federal Government to facilitate the take-off of the teaching hospital.
“President Tinubu loves Akure very much. He promised us the Teaching Hospital, and he fulfilled it. He also gave us a substantive minister and the College of Aviation. We will always support him,” Oba Aladelusi declared.
The monarch charged the management of the teaching hospital to prioritise quality service delivery, reduce mortality rates and work towards making the facility one of the best in Nigeria and globally.
He also advised the management staff to reduce the death rate and make the Teaching Hospital the best in the country and the world. He promised to speak with the Akure indigenes to donate buildings and facilities to the hospital
He further pledged to mobilise Akure indigenes to support the hospital through the donation of buildings and critical facilities to enhance its operations.
Earlier, the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the teaching hospital, Prof. Olusegun Ojo, reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to delivering quality healthcare and supporting the host community, describing the hospital as “not only a Federal Institution; it is a pride of Akure Kingdom.”
He emphasised that, “It is our responsibility, as custodians of this mandate, to ensure that the hospital delivers quality healthcare, contributes to medical education, supports research, creates employment opportunities, and positively impacts the well-being of our host community.”
Ojo further highlighted the new management’s vision, stating, “As a new Management Team, we have come with a clear resolve to consolidate on the foundation already laid, to uphold professionalism, integrity, and excellence in service delivery, and to foster a harmonious relationship with our host community.”
He added that the hospital values collaboration with local traditional institutions: “We recognise that peaceful coexistence, mutual respect, and continuous engagement with traditional institutions remain critical to the success of our mission.”
The CMD pledged the management’s unwavering loyalty to the throne of the Deji of Akure and the revered traditional institution of Akure Kingdom.
He stated, “We assure Kabiyesi and the Iwarefa that we shall always seek guidance, maintain open communication, and conduct the affairs of the hospital in a manner that brings honour to Akure Kingdom and pride to our nation.
