Today, we honour the sacrifices and contributions of all Nigerians who have worked tirelessly to uphold our democratic values and strengthen our national unity.

As we celebrate Democracy Day, let us remember that our democracy is not just a system of governance but a reflection of our collective will and aspirations. An unbroken 25-year democracy is a testament to our enduring spirit as Nigeria, our shared dreams, and our determination to build a nation where every voice is heard and every citizen matters.

However, in these times, it is more important for us to actively participate in democratic processes, starting with activities in our immediate communities. Beyond our votes during elections, our voices, and our continued engagement are the lifeblood to sustain this democracy.

Get involved, stay informed, foster dialogue, and endeavour to make your voice count in community and democratic processes. Attend community meetings, engage with your representatives, and encourage others to do the same. This is how we will strive for a Nigeria that fulfils the promise of democracy for all its citizens.
