Digital Appreciation: Again, Prof Akande Facilitates 300 E-Pads for Three Oyo State Institutions.
The College of Agriculture and Technology ,Igbo Ora,Oke Ogun Polythecnic,Saki and Emmanuel Alayande College of Education,Oyo are three new beneficiaries of the Nigerian Communications Commission(NCC) initiatives with the provision of 100 E-PADs each.The provision is under the commission’s Advanced Digital Economy and Advanced Digital Appeciation Programme.
The Advanced Digital Awareness Programme for Tertiary Institutions (ADAPTI) is aimed at bridging the digital gaps that exists in academia by providing computers, other ICT equipment and the necessary facilities to provide lecturers, staff and students with the requisite ICT skills essential for the 21st Century.
The NCC supplies computers and other ICT equipment, including scanners and printers to the beneficiary institutions. This includes also, the provision of suites of E-Learning applications for academics and students in tertiary institutions across the country.
The objective of this programme is, specifically, to provide the tools that will enable familiarity and confidence in the utilization of ICT in teaching, research and learning.
Since its introduction in 2008, more than 300 institutions of higher learning have been beneficiaries of the programme.
In letters addressed to the heads of the three institutions ,the NCC noted that the provisions were made on the recommendation of Professor Adeolu Akande,Chairman of the Commission.
The University of Ibadan, Ladoke Akintola University, Ogbomosho, The Polythecnic, Ibadan,Oke Ogun Polythecnic,Emmanuel Alayande College of Education,Oyo and the Abiola Ogundoyin Polythecnic,all tertiary institutions in Oyo State have benefitted from many initiatives of the NCC on the recommendation if Professor Akande.These are in addition to thousands of students and youths who have been exposed to physical and online training programmes of the NCC in the quest to provide requisite skills for the emerging digital economy in Nigeria.
