DINNER: ICAN Honours Adelabu, Appreciates His Supports .
Former Deputy Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Chief Adebayo Adelabu was last night honoured by the Institute of Chartered Accountant of Nigeria(ICAN) at the 21st Investiture dinner of the Ibadan and District office held at the Jogor Center.
Presenting the award, the first Vice President of ICAN, Mrs Eyitayo reteirated that the award of excellence was in recognition of Chief Adelabu’s professional excellence and selfless service to the institute and the society at large.
Chief Adelabu who is a fellow of the Institute Chartered of Accountant thanked the institute for recognising him and counting him worthy of the award. He said further that the ultimate for every professional is to use his skill and wealth of experience to serve humanity at the end of the day. This is what informed his early retirement from active professional practice to join politics.
In reacting to the institute’s secretariat building project, Chief Adelabu noted that it is worrisome for the Ibadan District office not to have a befitting secretariat despite being one of the pioneer district offices of ICAN. He then announced his One million naira initial contribution to the secretariat building fund while he promised to continually support the project till its completion.
The 2019 Governorship candidate of APC said ICAN had played important role in the society especially in the area of ensuring accountability and prudent spending.
“I appreciate the ICAN for the honour done on me and recognizing my immense contributions and selfless services to the District Society and Humanity in general”
Chief Adelabu also called on government at all levels and non governmental organisations to give adequate recognition and rightful placement to fellow Chartered Accountants.
Present at the occasion were Mr Zach Adedeji, former commissioner for Finance, Mr Ajiboye Omodewu, former Commissioner for Lands, Dr Kehinde Odunsi, Head of FiRS Ibadan, the Chairman, Oyo state Local Government Service Commission, the Managing Director of Evans Publishers, the Rector of The Polyechnic, Ibadan Professor Kazeem Raji, the Bursar of The Polytechnic Ibadan, Mr Ojetola.
