Eid-el-Adha: Islam, Godliness and Humanity | Monsuru Adeyemo “Socrates”
Eid-el-Adha: Islam, Godliness and Humanity | Monsuru Adeyemo “Socrates”.
Eid-el-Adha(عيد الأضحى,), “Feast of the Sacrifice”(Ileya in Yoruba language) is the second and the largest of the two main festivals (holidays) celebrated in Islam, (the other being Eid-el-Fitr). It honours the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son, Ishmael(Ismail) as an act of obedience to God’s command. However, before Ibrahim could sacrifice his son in the name of God, and because of his willingness to do so, God provided him with a ram to sacrifice in his son’s place. In commemoration of this intervention, animals are ritually sacrificed. Part of their meat is consumed by the family that offers the animal, while the rest of the meat is distributed to the poor and the needy. Foods and gifts are given, and extended family members typically visit and are welcomed. The day is also sometimes called the Greater Eid.
As we all know, Islam is an Abrahamic monotheistic religion centered on the Quran(Kitab) and the teachings(Sunnah) of Muhammad. We the adherents of Islam are called Muslims, and Billions of people, globally, practise the religion of peace.
As beautiful, and humanistic, as Islam.
Of course, in Islam, you have your inalienable rights, and your family, friends, and people, generally, also have some rights over you and your properties. Man does not exist for himself, only, but, also, he exists for others.
Even, interests of orphans, wayfarers, captives, those in needs, and other disadvantaged people are well taken care of, in Islam.
To be a Muslim is to be godly; To be a Muslim is to be humanitarian – Islam is humanity and humanity is Islam. May Allah Subhana Huwa Taala empower us, and may He, always, make it easy for us to glorify Him and serve humanity.
Glory be to God for making us parts of his servants.”Robana Atina Fi Duniya Asanata Wa Fil Akhirati Asanata Wa Ki Na Asaba Nar(Amin)”.
Once again, Happy Eid-el-Adha to my fellow Muslim Brethren, to my worthy other Abrahamic Faithful – Jews and Christians, and to all members of human race.”Barka De Sallah – Aku Odun Ooo”.
