End SARS Protest : The Boy Killed in Ogbomoso Is My Relative – Muftau Open Salawu .
Chieftain of All Progressives Congress(APC) in Oyo state and former Adviser to late Gov. Ajimobi, Engr Muftau Open Salawu has revealed that the person killed in Ogbomosho yesterday during the EndSARS protest is his relative . Salawu called for restructuring of Policing system in Nigeria and he commiserated with the bereaved family .
” It is so sad and shocking when I was informed of the death of Isiaka jimoh. This is a promising young and vibrant boy that could help and support his family but his life was cut short. Whoever is responsible must be brought to justice”, Open Salawu stated.
“His father is my brother and we just handled a project together and keys of the building was handed over to him to tell you how close we are with the family”.
” Restructuring of policing systems is inevitable now. Police are supposed to be friends of citizens but I am not sure that this is the case right now. Many innocent Nigerians have been extra judicially killed by reckless policemen and this is as a result of unprofessional conducts of few officers in uniform”, Salawu reiterated.
” I want us to be calm, and protest peacefully. We need to avoid physical confrontations with men that carry guns in other to avoid lost of lives. The Police need to be restructured to give room for community policing and that is when we can have effective policing in our Country”, Engr Open Salawu maintained.
He commiserated with the family and prayed that may God give the bereaved fortitude to bear the irreparable loss .
