Epic Showdown at Olubadan Stadium As Fagade’s Unity Cup Finals Hold Saturday

The finals of the statewide soccer competition sponsored by the Director-General of the National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism, Abuja (NIHOTOUR), Dr Abisoye Fagade, will be held this Saturday at the main bowl of the Olubadan Stadium, Iyaganku, Ibadan, at 3pm.
The maiden edition of the annual football festival sponsored by the Oyo-Si-Maa-Dun Foundation, owned by the chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Oyo State, who is also the Aare Asojuoba of Ibadanland, Abisoye Fagade, has kicked off since October this year, featuring soccer teams from across the state.
In a statement issued by his media office and made available to journalists in Ibadan on Thursday, Fagade expressed personal delight at the enthusiasm shown by all the participating teams, game handlers and football fans throughout the duration of the preliminary matches and elimination stages.

“The grand finale will feature the teams from Ona-Ara and Surulere local government councils in the third-place match, while the representatives of Ibadan South West and Irepo local government councils will slug it out in the final match. The chairman of the occasion is the Aare Mayegun of Ibadanland and a former national president of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII), Chief Bayo Oyero.

“The multi-million Naira soccer project is one in the series of social interventions and philanthropic gestures of Dr. Fagade through his OSMD Foundation, as the same organisation is synonymous with the distribution of food items, sponsorship of medical outreach, granting of scholarships, financial and material empowerment, and advocacy, among others, for the benefits of the downtrodden and the masses across the southwest of the country.
“This Saturday, the doors of the ancient Olubadan Stadium will be left open for sport enthusiasts and members of the general public to enjoy spectacular soccer action, while participating teams, officials and spectators will win many prizes and gifts. Therefore, all APC faithful and members of the general public are enjoined to be at the stadium on Saturday to enjoy themselves and also be a part of the sports festival which has come to stay in the state.” The statement added.
