Ex-Oyo ALGON Chair, Others Reaffirm Supports for Folarin over APC Guber Candidate’s Position on LG Autonomy.

Former members of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria(ALGON), in Oyo-State, have reaffirmed their total commitments and unalloyed supports for the Standardbearer of the All Progressives Congress(APC), in Oyo-State, come March 18, Senator Teslim Folarin, over his position on Local Government autonomy.

The former Senate Leader, Sen. Folarin has severally reiterated it as flagbearer of his party, APC that if mandate is given, he would support local government autonomy.

Former Oyo ALGON Chairman, Bashorun Bosun Ajuwon, who spoke on behalf of all former 68 local council chairmen, 68 vice chairmen, 610 councilors and all local government political appointees during their administrations, maintained that Sen. Folarin’s position in favour of local government autonomy has, once again, proved him as a genuine democrat and charismatic leader that this moment calls for, in the state.

“Sen. Folarin’s supports for local government autonomy has, once again, proved him as a genuine democrat and charismatic leader that this moment calls for, in the state. We’re proud of him and we reassured him of our total commitments and unalloyed supports.

Ajuwon, the former council gaffer of Ibadan Northwest described Governor Makinde of Oyo-State as undemocratic helmsman and enemy of grassroots administration. He charged good people of Oyo-State to reject him, and replace him with Folarin, whom he said he genuinely has love of people at heart.

“Gov. Seyi Makinde is a failure, and he is fast killing local government administration. He is an undemocratic helmsman and enemy of grassroots administration. So, I want to passionately appeal to the good people of Oyo-State to reject him, at the forthcoming governorship polls, and replace him with Sen. Folarin, who genuinely has love of people at heart, and he is ever ready to prioritise the affairs of people at grassroots level, when the mandate is given.

He continued,”Engr Seyi Makinde’s led government is a government of deceit. They’ve paralysed local government administration, and they’ve failed to deliver dividends of democracy, to doorsteps of the citizens, at grassroots level. Even, his people that he put there as council officials are finding it very difficult to cope. Their own case is suffering and smiling. They’re just there doing nothing. He has made them redundant and he has turned them to toothless bulldog.

Ajuwon further reprimanded Markinde and his government, who are the judgement debtors, for refusing to pay the former elected council officials, the judgement creditors, as ordered by supreme court. “Makinde! Stop acting tyrannically and pay those you sent out of office, now. Pay us our entitlements now, as ordered by Supreme Court”, Ajuwon fumed.

He dared Makinde that his conspiracy against third tier of government will definitely cause him his second term in office.

Ajuwon warned masses that Makinde’s second in office will be a disaster.”Reject him. His second term in office will collapse the grassroots administration completely.

“It is a pity that those in office now, as council officials, have nothing to show for their tenures after almost two years in office. This is so, shameful.

Ajuwon is the chief petitioner of ALGON who challenged Oyo-State government over their refusal to keep to the letter and spirit of supreme court judgement, which ruled in favour of council officialls, after when Eng. Makinde has undemocratically sacked them from office, on May 29, 2019.

Ajuwon lauded Folarin over the priority he gave to third their of governance and declared that his members will not leave any stone unturned, untill the former Senate Leader emerges as next governor of Oyo-State.

On forthcoming governorship election, Ajuwon extolled Folarin as the most experienced, most competent and most qualified candidate among his co-contestants. He thanked Oyo people for the confidence reposed in the progressive party, as expressed on February 25 and he charged electorates to troop out enmass on March 18 and cast their votes for the third term senator as next governor of Oyo-State, and also, to vote all APC Assembly candidates as members of the state parliament.
