The passing away of the immediate past Governor of Oyo state, Gov. Isiaq Abiola Ajimobi came to us at Asiwaju Grassroot foundation (AGF) as a rude shock and a personal loss. Till this morning, we are still yet yo grasp the reality that one of the foremost backbones of our struggles is no more. What a death too painful to bear!
Gov. Ajimobi, a father to all progressive minded organizations and people was one of those, who at the birth of our dynamic group, Asiwaju Grassroot Foundation (AGF) immediately supported us in all realms. And till his death, always stood by us in all our activities. Now that death has taken Akanji away, who are we going to be running to for fatherly advice and assistances? Sen. Ajimobi death is a big blow to us, and a great leadership vacuum has just been created not only in AGF but in the country’s political landscape as a whole.
Our association and close working relationship with Gov. Ajimobi enabled us to view him at a close quarter with his uncommon attributes. A perfectionist to the core who will not condone mediocrity. To the late senator, standard and class have no substitutes . His repositioning of Oyo state from his moribund look to his now modern look within his eight years stay as the governor attests to this. Every assignment must be dutifully and duly carried out if you were to be a friend to Gov. Ajimobi. He was a class on his own, and an institution difficult to discuss. One of the finest of the progressive family and a core loyalist of our principal, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Anything Tinubu according to the late senator was Ajimobi. An Iroko tree just fell in Yoruba land at a time every hands are needed in our forthcoming political quest. What a loss!
At 70, and for the mere fact that we are all mortals that will go to the great beyond sooner or later, the late senator is worthy of celebration for a well spent and fulfilled life he had on earth. He came, saw and conquered both in his private and public life. A one time deputy chief whip of 5th Assembly, and a Koseleri eight years Governor of Oyo state. He will forever be remembered and celebrated.
To his matriarch , Chief (Dr) Florence Ajimobi, we all know the bond you shared with your late loving husband, only God can console you ma for this loss. We as well express our condolences to his children, family members, good people of Oyo state, the APC, political associates of the late Governor, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu , Ogbeni Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola and all the well wishers of the former Governor on this irreparable loss.
Gov. Ajimobi has answered call of his maker, and we pray for the repose of his soul in Aljanat Fridaus.
