Group Coordinator, Dr Alongbija Urges FG to Prioritise ‘Agriculture Investment’ for Food Security

Federal government has been advised once again to increase investment in Agriculture for food security and sufficiency.

This increased investment in agriculture would also banish hunger, reduce crimes and unemployment, and ensure peace in the country.

One of the coordinators of the Islamic Enlightenment Foundation of Nigeria, Dr. Muhammad-Lawal Musa Alongbija, gave the advice during the distribution of Eid-ul to Adha meat to about 600 beneficiaries at As-Shiar Centre, Omi-Adio, Ibadan.

The charity project financed by Sheikh Abduhakeem As-Shiar Kuwait and family through the Kuwait Horizons Charity Society was coordinated by the Islamic Enlightenment Foundation of Nigeria, Ibadan, under the chairmanship of Sheikh Shakir Jum’a Orankan.

Dr. Alongbija stressed that the meat distribution to the needy and the underprivileged in the society was to complement government efforts to reduce deprivation and hardship in the land, especially during this festive period, which teaches Muslims to extend hands of fellowship, love, and compassion to all irrespective of religious belief. “I’m very happy to see the beneficiaries going back to their various homes with big white nylons loaded with beef to celebrate and rejoice on the occasion of Eid-ul Adha,”  Alongbija cheers.

According to Dr. Alongbija, Eid-ul Adha goes beyond merriments. It epitomises sacrifice, obedience to Allah, and rededication to the worship of Allah. He called on wealthy individuals to emulate such gestures to make life bearable for the economically disadvantaged people.

Dr. Alongbija prayed Allah to reward Sheikh Abduhakeem As-Shiar and his family, replenish their resources, and grant them good dwellings in paradise for providing succour in times of need.
He also commended Sheikh Orankan for considering people in Omi-Adio and environs among the benefiting societies.

Some of the beneficiaries, including the Chief Imam of Oloko, Apata, Ibadan, Alhaji Tirmisiy Murtadho, Ustaz Ibrahim Lakanle, and Alhaja Ganiyat Adekunle, expressed gratitude to the donors, the coordinators, with prayers to Allah for more blessings and to provide for them at their point of need.
