Prominent NADECO Chieftain and Afenifere Leader, Senator Biyi Durojaiye, is dead
With heavy hearts but with total submission to the will of Almighty God, we painfully announce the death of a Prominent National Democratic Coalition (NADECO) Chieftain and the Acting Leader of Afenifere Egbe Ilosiwaju Yoruba, who doubled as the immediate past Chairman of Nigeria’s Communication Commission (NCC), Senator Olabiyi Durojaiye.
He took over as Acting Leader of Afenifere last year after the death of Senator Ayo Fasanmi, which occured 29th July, 2020.
He passed on early hours of Today at age of 88 in Lagos State.
He was the immediate Past Chairman Nigeria’s Communication Commission (NCC) and played a prominent role during the NADECO struggles by waging war against successful military Juntas towards the entrenchement of Domacracy in Nigeria.
He was a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria representing Ogun East between 1999 to 2003.
A member of the Constituent Assembly 1988 to 1989.
Sequel to his zeal and honesty with which he worked with other committed Coallegues while he was in the Central Bank Nigeria (CBN), during the Change of Currency by the Gen. Muhammadu Buhari led Administration in 1983, he became very close to Mr President since then.
He will surely be missed by the Civil Society, Traditional, Religious and Political Classes in Nigeria
As a Yoruba Youth Leader of decades and a committed member of both NADECO and Afenifere, I worked under his tutlage for over 2 decades.
Adiue, my ever Progressive and ever revolutionary Leader.
May your gentle soul rest in peace.
Signed:
Comrade AWA Bamiji,
Aare Apapo(President – General),
Agbarijo Egbe Odo Yoruba(Grand Council of Yoruba Youths).”
