HAVE DOMINION.
Dear reader, welcome to the first Thursday in the month of July. I trust the new month is treating you well already. It’s the 7th day of the 7th month and I am super excited to bring you the last dimension of the 5 divine mandates.
To have dominion here is not applicable to our fellow humans. It is not about manipulating or oppressing people. It is basically to control or influence every other living thing that God created asides human beings. These other living things include the fish of the sea, fowl of the air and every living thing that moves upon the earth. God gave those living creatures to us as food. So, we can receive them with thanksgiving, prepare them, eat them and be nourished.
On the other hand, we can tame them and train them as domestic animals. So, humans have the power to decide what they want to do with the aquatic and terrestrial animals. I understand that some people, culture and religion may hold a different view, belief or culture on their relationship with and attitude to animals which may include not eating animals at all or even punishing whoever hurts or kills any of the animals. However, everyone is a free moral agent and we are very free to develop our own views and do what seems right to us.
Therefore, I am not writing against any culture, system, belief, religion or person. I am only stating what is obvious in the HOLY BIBLE where God states as follows;
‘And God blessed them, and God said unto them, be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the fowl of the air and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth’. Genesis 1v28
Remember also that when God gave this mandate to man, it was just Adam in the Garden of Eden and no other human being was there with him. Therefore, I beg us to stop any form of human oppression and destruction because we are all created after God’s likeness and we are to love our neighbours as ourselves.
If we say that we love God and love not our neighbours, we are liars. Have a great day.
