Historic Moment: EACOED Evolves into University Under New VC

n what could be described as a seamless transition, the former Acting Provost, Emmanuel Alayande College of Education, Oyo, Dr. Nelson Aderemi Oyewo has formally handed over the administration of the College to Professor Olanrewaju Olaniyan who was recently appointed as the pioneer Vice Chancellor, Emmanuel Alayande University of Education, Oyo.

According to a release made available by ‘Wale Adeoye, Special Assistant on Media Matters to the Vice Chancellor quoting the immediate Past Acting Provost, Dr. Nelson Aderemi Oyewo who expressed his heart of gratitude to God Almighty for the grace he enjoyed while writing his name in the history of the College. “I am overwhelmed today and return all gratitude to God Almighty for the grace he gave me to be part of the College history. I thank His Excellency, Governor Oluseyi Makinde for allowing me to contribute to the educational development of the State. I am happy that I have contributed my little quota to the history of our citadel of learning. Mr. Vice Chancellor, I thank the Governing Council and the Management team I worked with. I appreciate every staff, students and members of the College (now University) community for their unwavering support throughout my stewardship. Honestly, I am eternally indebted to all. On this premise, I hereby formally hand-over the administration of this College to you as the pioneer Vice Chancellor, Emmanuel Alayande University of Education, Oyo. May God lead you aright and bless the UNIVERSITY. Thank you” submitted the renowned Guidance Counselor.

In his brief remarks, the pioneer Vice Chancellor, Prof. Olanrewaju Ademola Olaniyan thanked Dr. Nelson Aderemi Oyewo and his team for the warm reception he has been receiving since he assumed office. “It is my pleasure to receive this document on behalf of the Emmanuel Alayande University of Education, Oyo. Let me state that despite the fact that this document has been handed over to me, the implementation modalities shall be a joint effort. I am happy that we are in an institution that has a great pedigree with a strong history and that comes with a lot of responsibilities. I am delighted that the quality of management, staff and students are not in doubt. I thank the founding fathers and those who provided a strong footing upon which we are taking off. This College is known for excellence and we can’t but sustain and improve on that. As we transit to a University, the Executive Governor has stated that the new University must be one of technology and that there should be no gap. I am therefore stating that we are going to admit students into the University for the ongoing admission. We are going to work together in building a world-class University of Education of our dream. While I appreciate you and your management team for your contributions and the great work done, I promise to work in line with the vision of the Visitor to the University, His Excellency, Engr. Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde, FNSE.”

The hand-over event, which was held inside the Vice-Chancellor’s Office was witnessed by the Management members of the defunt Emmanuel Alayande College of Education, Oyo including Dr. (Mrs.) Ramat O. Owoade, Acting Deputy Provost; Mrs. Olubunmi S. Asunmo, Acting Registrar; Mr. Emmanuel O. Adegoke, Acting Bursar; Dr. (Mrs.) Serifat M. Asiru and Arc. Hammed O. Amuda, Director of Works.
